Community Fundraiser – Job Description
The Orpheus Centre is a learning centre in Surrey that increases the confidence, skills and independence of disabled young adults through the performing arts and our lifeskills/transition programme. We believe that every young disabled person should have the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers. Orpheus was founded in 1998 and is a rapidly developing, fast paced organisation. We are a small, local charity with big ambitions.

Salary: £24 500.00 p.a.
Working hours: 35 hours per week (with opportunities for flexible working)
Location: Orpheus Centre, North Park Lane, Godstone, Surrey, RH9 8ND
Job Summary
To ensure that fundraising activity is implemented and managed locally to deliver budgets, targets and income in line with the Centre’s plans and strategies. To achieve this through fundraising and by supporting and facilitating the development of volunteer networks and fundraising groups across the local area.
Main Duties
Ensuring the delivery of local fundraising plans and activities:
- Contributing to and delivering against annual budgets, targets and plans
- Ensuring that local fundraising events, activities and collections etc (including outreach collections) run effectively and are well planned, marketed and supported
- Working with colleagues at the Orpheus Centre to ensure that events and activities are marketed and supported locally
- Attending fundraising activities and events
- Ensuring that accurate and up to date financial and supporter records are maintained and accessible via the Salesforce database
- Providing reports and information about activity, performance, supporters, volunteers etc as necessary and upon request

Putting the supporter first:
- Working with fundraising groups and supporters in ways that encourage and support people to fundraise for the Orpheus Centre
- Working with local businesses to engage their support and to raise funds for the Orpheus Centre
- Providing and facilitating supporters with a choice of how they fundraise and work with the Orpheus Centre
- Responding to enquiries from the public, volunteers, fundraisers etc (by phone, mail, email and in person) including responding to requests for information and material etc
- Giving talks and presentations to local organisations ie schools, rotary clubs, WIs etc, to increase awareness of and support for the Orpheus Centre’s activities
Developing and managing key relationships inside the Orpheus Centre:
- Working with key people at the Orpheus Centre ie the Learning Team, Students, Care Team, Staff and Volunteers to obtain support for and involvement with local fundraising activities
- Working with local media and PR to maximise publicity and awareness of the Orpheus Centre and its activities
Working with volunteers and colleagues:
- Recruiting and supervising the work of volunteers
- Supporting and developing colleagues and volunteers
Other:
- Working within the Orpheus Centre policies, procedures and adhering to legal frameworks
- Cash handling, acknowledging and receipting income in accordance with the Orpheus Centre’s policies and procedures
- Undertaking administrative duties as required

Qualifications and Training / • Five GCSE’s (grade C or above) or equivalent, including English and Mathematics OR
• Demonstrable literacy and numeracy / • Educated to A level standard or equivalent
• Holds a relevant professional qualification
• Member of a relevant professional body CV / Certificate of qualification / Test (as applicable) / CV

Presentation
