Community Comprehensive Schools Cross Country.

It was an early Thursday morning and the school's athletic team were on their way to compete in the Community Comprehensive Cross Country .The event was held in the phoenix park .The first race was scheduled for 11 o'clock . Up first was the first year girls competing for the school was Sarah Myers who finished a brilliant 10th place,Niamh Costello who placed 42nd place, Sadbh Loughran 31st, Ellie Gregan 32nd,Sarah Kennedy 20th, Elaine Kennedy 55th, Shanai Solbrig 24th, Caitlin McGee 53rd, Chloe Hickey 54th and Chelsie Hickey 55th all girls should be very proud of their performances .Up next for PCS was the the first year boys .

The boys were running a tough distance of 1100m.Competing for the school was Dane Reid, Eoin Kelly and Adam Daly all the boys performed brilliantly but there was not enough members to make up a team .Then we had the second year girls they also ran the tough distance of 1100m in a very competitive field .Running for the school was Chloe Finnegan, Emma Gleeson, Naomi Edokpa, Alanna Woods, Sophie Courtney, Aollie Tobin .All girls put in a good hard effort and were only three points away from winning medals for the team event .Then the second year boys were running .They were running a longer distance of 1500m.Competing for the school was Alex Barlow, Ben Moran, Eoghan Leahy, Jamie o'Hanlon, Tom Cragg, Luke Boggle,Alex Cush, Josh Molloy,Nathan and Noseh.All boys done very well .After the second year boys was the third year girls they were also running 1500m.The second year girls were really outstanding in their performances .Rebecca Cooke finished a brilliant second place followed by Laura Mc Evoy in 4th place then Alannah Byrne in 6th place, Wendy Nsana came in 9th place , Heather Marshall 13th then was Dearbhla loughran in 16th place .

The third year girls won the overall prize. In a brilliant and entertaining race Aaron Cullen came in second place and narrowly missing 1st place after Aaron was Harry mac Keogh, Conor Gleeson, Rhian Gregan, Ronan Patterson, Rhys Chapman and Alex Mc Donagh.All the lads were fantastic and the team finished 2nd and were narrowly denied the first place by a few points .As the event was coming to a close there was just one race left .

Running for the school was Craig Giles making his senior debut .Craig was running 3300m .It was a very tactical race but Craig pulled away on the last stretch to take the win .All athletes should be very proud on their performances .

Training is every Friday morning and all members are welcome.
