COMMUNICATION OFFICER: WEB AND DIGITAL

FULL-TIME REGULAR POSITION

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Executive Director of Communication Services or designate and in collaboration with College programs, departments and campuses, the incumbent will provide College-wide website and digital sign design, support and maintenance, using the principals of UX (user experience) design, including the following:

  • Assist College community with website changes by designing, improving and updating webpages as needed.
  • Train College employees to update the CNC website, lead/share best practices of UX and provide support.
  • Manage and maintain official College web page content as needed and required. Approve content from other College web contributors.
  • Develop and plan for the College’s online presence in collaboration with other web designers, programs, departments and campuses, based on priorities, policy directions, and goals;
  • Incorporate and adapt content to a multi-platform format, creating and maintaining the logical structure of the content, and provide quality control;
  • Generate online copy using the principals of website content writing; monitor all departments’ website content to ensure quality;
  • Research, recommend and implement electronic and/or online marketing and promotional communication tools (eg. Twitter, Flickr, Facebook etc.)
  • Ensure the accessibility of all web content, ensuring quality control and CNC brand standards;
  • Work with programs, departments and campuses to ensure the website is meeting College needs; record, monitor and repair bugs and problems, where appropriate;
  • Create enhancements and modifications to web pages; monitor internal/external links, organize and maintain pages, setting regular review dates for dead links, outdated content and assets (photos, video, documents).
  • Design promotional graphic elements for the CNC website, social media, digital signage and print.
  • Edit and upload web templates, publications, and other media to the server.
  • Share responsibility for updating and contributing to the College’s social media accounts with Media Relations Officer, HR, ED Communications and other users as required.
  • Produce monthly web and social media analytics reports for the College Executive, specific departments and programs.
  • Design, deploy and report summary Communications’ internal and external surveys
  • Key liaison with IT department.
  • Monitor the College’s Paypal account and transfer funds upon request.
  • Manage Communication Services’ web accounts, passwords and login information.
  • Must be able to travel to regions if required.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Two years of relevant post secondary academic education.
  • Four years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Strong computer skills, competency in word processing
  • Previous web design experience—UX experience an asset.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of online/virtual communication environments.
  • Exceptional technical writing skills.
  • Proven research and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent problem solving and judgment skills.
  • Proven skills and knowledge in HTML, CSS, creation of templates for Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • Basic knowledge and usage of ASP.NET and Web-based APIs
  • Experience in the following desktop publishing/imaging applications and coding languages/ frameworks an asset, but not required:
  • Multimedia (streaming audio and video); Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Sharepoint Designer, Visual Studio, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Website Accessibility Initiative (WAI-ARIA), mobile web design, PHP, .NET, and Sitefinity CMS

SALARY: 48,324 per year- Band F

HOURS: 35 hours per week

START DATE: October 2, 2017
