Comidas y Bebidas

At the country street festival your group has to create the food and drink booth. You will sell and explain items that are original cuisine from your specific country. You will want to choose cuisine that is authentic and easy to prepare.

When researching make sure to find foods that ORIGINTATE from the country, not just foods that are eaten in the country!

For example: We eat tacos in the United States but they did not originate here.

Your task is listed below:

Step 1:

·  Research food from your South American country. Choose five recipes that you find interesting and easiest to prepare.

·  Research the origins of the recipes. Where did they come from? Why did they get created? Do not choose a recipe if you can not find this information.

o  HINT: I have already done this research and I KNOW the information is available!!!

·  Create an on-going bibliography of all of the places you have retrieved information. You will automatically fail the project if you do not have a bibliography listing your resources used!

Step 2:

·  Create recipe cards with your recipes listed on them. Make sure to include ingredients, steps of preparation, and origins of the recipes

Step 3:

·  Produce a cooking video in which you prepare one of the recipes OR do an in-class demonstration of the preparation of the recipe.

o  Further instructions are below

Within each group each person must take on a certain role. Aside from these roles everyone in the group will contribute with research and participation. You will fill out a group evaluation form at the end and part of your grade will be determined from this.

Within your group, the following roles must be represented:

1.  Computer Genius – This person will make sure that each deadline is met and that Sra. Haffey has received all of the work needed on each deadline date. The “deadline work” must be emailed to Sra. Haffey on the dates listed below. If you know you will be absent for one of the deadlines make sure to tell your group mates because for each deadline missed (even one day and even if the person is sick) points will be deducted.

2.  Record Keeper – You will keep your file updated. All of your research must be backed up with a “hard copy” (printed copy) of the source from the internet. It is your job to make sure all of the copies are in the file

3.  Resource Worker – It is your job to make sure the bibliography is current. All information taken from the internet, book, encyclopedia, etc. must be included on your group’s bibliography. You will work with the record keeper to make sure that each piece represented in the bibliography is represented with a “hard copy” in the file.

4.  Creative Geniuses (2) – It is your job to create a poster that will be displayed on the final due date of your project. This poster will tell people the country you have researched and things about your topic. Your poster needs to be colorful and creative.
