Why become a member?

There are numerous reasons why one shouldconsider becoming a CMLA CofC member. You can become active in middle level education as a preserviceprofessional, gain experience working with middle school students, acquireknowledge of middle school concepts and philosophies, and of course, meetingpeople who share your interest of middle level education. Also, by joining CMLA CofC and remaining amember in good standing, NMSA, the National Middle School Association, willpay for your first year of membership in their organization upon yourgraduation. Doctors Meyer and Ward ofNew Mexico State University summarize why you should become a member best:

Most teachers agree that associations provide valuable opportunities to communicate with other professionals, to keep current in subject matter, to attend workshops and conferences, and to gain access to professional publications. Associations motivate us to do our best work and constitute a focus of support that helps promote vocational education. They also help to advance knowledge by providing ways for members to stay current on issues and problems in their field, and by institutionalizing the communication channels needed to share and appraise educational practices.
