Preschool Director

College Park Preschool is a highly respected, early childhood program near SDSU serving children ages 2 years through pre-kindergarten. Our classrooms, art studio and playground are active learning environments where children are encouraged to explore, experiment, and discover. The school has adopted the “Reggio” vision of the child as a competent learner. CPP follows an emergent curriculum approach allowing children to explore as individuals, while enhancing cognitive, social/emotional, language, creative, and motor skill development. Child-family-staff relationships and daily communication are vital to the College Park environment.

The director is responsible to the Preschool Board and the Session (church board) of Faith Presbyterian Church. The position is a 35 hour per week job for 12 months per year.

Requirements:

  • BA in early childhood education from an approved college or university and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a licensed child care center. 6 units must be in administration and staff relations. Have a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing OR
  • BA in another area of study from an approved college or university with a minimum of 30 units in early child hood education from an approved college or university with 6 of those units in administration and staff relations. A minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a licensed child care center. Have a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. OR
  • AA degree in early childhood education from an approved college or university and a minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a licensed child care center. 6 units must be in administration and staff relations.Have a Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or a Child Development Program Director Permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • An understanding of and commitment to a“Reggio”inspired/emergent curriculum.

Benefits:

  • Salary: $2400.00 - $2700.00 per month depending upon qualifications
  • Sick/personal leave: 10 days per year September – July, August is flexible time
  • Vacation days: follow the schedule of San Diego Unified School District
  • Medical: may apply for benefits if needed upon completion of the probationary period
