Position Description

God has given OMF a heart for Asia and the desire to bring his hope to billions. To do this, OMF seeks to “mobilize” (train, equip and encourage) individuals to become more involved with long-term ministry in East Asia. By strategically representing and advocating for OMF, the Advocacy Team encourages and empowers others to discover their role in advancing the gospel within East Asia. The College Mobilization Coordinator supervises and develops outreach for those on the Advocacy Team specializing in strategic outreach opportunities throughout the United States on college campuses.

Major Responsibilities

Coordinate OMF International (U.S.) college ministry:

·  Establish strategy for OMF (U.S.) representation and outreach on college campuses with the guidance of the Advocacy Manager.

·  Work closely with the Advocacy Manager and Advocacy Council to ensure proper communication and unity of vision and strategy.

·  Work with the Advocacy Manager to ensure proper representation at strategic locations (college and/or churches) in the U.S. and seek to proactively promote OMF speakers and representation at key events.

o  Ensure proper evaluation of events and representation opportunities by developing metrics. Continually reevaluate and improve the advocacy strategy through program planning and development.

·  Working with the Advocacy Manager and Advocacy Council, encourage innovation and improvement within the team for reaching college campuses.

·  Plan and supervise the department budget in regards to college outreach with the Mobilization Ministries Director and Advocacy Manager.

·  Ensure thorough training to staff College Mobilizers. Create, organize, review and update training materials for mobilizers with a consistent OMF message.

·  Ensure that proper follow-up procedures are established with College Mobilizers and followed.

·  Help to recruit new staff and volunteer college mobilizers at colleges and seminaries around the country.

·  Coordinate meetings (weekly and/or biweekly) with College Mobilizers to help develop goals and strategies, accountability, invest in mentorship, etc.

·  Work with the Advocacy Manager and Advocacy Council to develop and implement plans for outreach in the Denver area among college students.

·  In communication with the Public Relations team, cast vision, develop and implement the U.S. mobilization message.

·  Keep track of TCKs going to school in the U.S. as potential college mobilizers as well as inform current college mobilizers about them for contact and follow-up if needed.

Supervise and give pastoral care to College Mobilizers on team:

·  Work with the Advocacy Manager to ensure proper pastoral care of College Mobilizers.

·  Supervise College Mobilizers and Ministry Advocates (as needed).

·  Provide guidance, accountability, training, tools and resources to all College Mobilizers throughout the year as they implement their plans.

Communicate God’s heart for the nations and represent OMF International:

·  Truthfully and compellingly represent the ministry and vision of OMF to various audiences: other mission organizations, churches, constituents, etc.

·  Inform and passionately challenge God’s people with OMF’s mission and vision and offer practical ways to be involved in this mission through written and spoken mediums.

·  Through research, build awareness of trends in the world, Church and missions to develop OMF’s appropriate response(s) in regard to mobilization.

Pray for new workers:

·  Set aside specific time to pray for new workers.

·  Ensure that the department strategically prays for new workers to reach East Asia’s peoples.

Qualifications

Character qualifications:

·  Love for Jesus Christ and growing relationship with him.

·  Sense of calling to mobilize and invest in others for God’s glory among the nations.

·  Passion for East Asia and reaching its peoples for God’s glory.

·  A humble heart to invest in others preparing to serve God in missions.

Professional qualifications:

·  College degree and managerial experience

·  An organized and passionate leader with ability to plan strategically.

·  Able to train and lead others in doing vital ministry.

·  A self-starter and motivator with the ability to proactively plan and work.

·  A critical thinker, able to evaluate and discern between various venues and opportunities.

·  Able to mentor a diverse and geographically spread-out team.

·  Excellent verbal, written, presentation and communication skills.

·  Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and personnel databases.

·  Able to develop and maintain effective working and interpersonal relationships.

·  Experience working with volunteers of all ages, denominations and ethnicities.

·  Experience in overseas cross-cultural ministry, preferred.

·  Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally, as necessary.

Compensation

The salary for this position is “support-based.” This means that similar to most OMF (U.S.) based Mobilization Personnel; the Director of College Mobilizers is asked to raise the budget for the position’s salary. This is done by forming a Partnership Team that provides the financial resources and prayers necessary to serve as in such a role. Going through Partnership Development as a homeside staff member decreases the amount of finances that cross-cultural missionaries need to contribute to the U.S. ministry. The salary range for this position is need-based, generally between $2,000 and $4,000 per month. OMF International will provide training and mentorship to facilitate the Partnership Development process.
