It is an expectation that you will ACT RIGHT and have all materials necessary to be prepared for class every day. SISD Student Handbook and Code of Conduct policy will govern classroom behavior.
Class Goals: Improve our knowledge of the world’s history and prepare for life in a community (school, town, church…). Good character, empathy and compassion for others and a value for learning will all be developed through the positive relationships we build in the classroom. We will always have this plan and purpose and we must both be a piece of the pie!
Coursework/Grading: SISD policy weights daily work at 50% and tests at 50% of your six weeks average. Work needs to be turned in on time to avoid falling behind or any other negative consequences. Any make ups or re-takes will need to be taken care of ASAP . Tutorials can be addressed as needed and by appointment.
Course Outline: 1st 6 weeks: Early Civilizations, Geece, Rome, Freedom Week
2nd 6 weeks: Middle Ages in Europe, Africa, and Asia
3rd 6 weeks: Renaissance and Reformation
4th 6 weeks: Age of Change, Scientific and Economic Revolutions
5th 6 weeks: World War I, Global Conflicts, World War II
6th 6 weeks: Post War Era and tying it all together
Assurances/Procedures/Expectations:
I will do my best to teach you appropriate behavior in a safe, structured, and cooperative learning environment because that is what you want in a classroom.
Ø Bring your materials to class
Ø No arguing with the Ref, That’s me and I’ll be fair
Ø Handbook policy always goes…cell phones…
Ø If you’re in the room be seated in your assigned desk
Ø Communicate the need to leave your seat, limit the number up
Ø You must have a pass to leave the room
Ø Never, ever be rude (questions, answers, comments)
Ø Respect individual and classroom belongings
Ø Keep hands and feet to yourselves
Ø Always take care of the table, desks, and chairs
Ø Keep the room clean and straight…NO FOOD, CANDY, OR DRINKS…except bottled water
Ø Do assignments when they are given
Ø It’s your job to get makeup work…posted assignment sheets
Ø Never, ever throw anything
Ø I dismiss class not a bell
Ø Compliance with the rules and procedures is non-negotiable
