AlabamaHighSchoolState Championships

The CMSA Bigfish made a huge splash at the Alabama State High School Championships this past weekend. We had five swimmers receive ALL-STATE honors for individual events and thirteen swimmers receive ALL-STATE honors for relays. CMSA had fifteen swimmers score individual points for their high schools. We had a great percentage of best times and really made a big statement to the rest of Alabama.

Parker Glass (St. Pauls) and Nicholas Colletti (McGill-Toolen) earned their first AlabamaState swimming titles. Parker won the 500 Free with a time of 5:07.06. Nicholas Colletti won the 100 Back with a time of 54.13.

CMSA SwimmerHighlights

  • Don Wagnon – two best times at the State Meet in the 200 Free & 500 Free. He ended up 23rd in the 200 Free & 18th in the 500 Free.
  • Zach Sims – also two best times in the 200 Free & 500 Free. He just barely missed finals with a 19th place in the 200 Free & 500 Free.
  • Luke Lewis – finished with a best time in the 100 Free cutting almost a full second to finish in 55.90.
  • Cassady Adams – finished with two solid swims in the 100 Breast & 50 Free just off her best with a 27.34 and top 25 finish.
  • Grace Molyneux – finished with best time in the 50 Free (27.42) and had a great butterfly leg on the 200 Medley Relay for St. Pauls (11th place).
  • Jeannie Marshall – earned ALL-STATE honors with her 400 Free Relay swim for St. Pauls. Jeannie also had some solid swims in the 50 Free & 500 Free.
  • Cooper Brown – just missed making the finals with an 18th place in the 200 Free and 17th place finish in the 500 Free. Both swims were best times by a ton.
  • Drew Priede – finished with two best times in the 100 Fly and the 500 Free. Drew also broke the one minute barrier in the 100 Free.
  • Will Glass – finished with a best time in the 100 Fly (1:02.62) and swam some really great relay splits.
  • Kerry Freeman – Kerry led off two relays for UMS-Wright. She had two personal bests with a 33.85 (50 Back) and 1:03.76 (100 Free). Her UMS relay ended up finishing 14th and scored 6 points for UMS.

Seniors Section

A huge congratulation goes out to our three CMSA Senior Swimmers. These three swimmers are great team leaders, great students, and great teammates. We are all very proud of all your hard work and leadership for our program.
