Client Meeting: Kirsty and Jamie Taylor.

11 Pristine Dr, Terrigal. 16/5/2017

I met with Kirsty and Jamie at their 3 bedroom traditional Queenslander. It’s a mid sized home with a casual beachside feel. Jamie and Kirsty have three children and require more efficient use of their living room, hoping to incorporate a small office space for children to do homework and for Kirsty to do office work for the couple’s business.

Overall Kirsty is happy with the feel of the house but hopes to consolidate the design in the living area with the idea that this will flow on through the house. She has in mind a relaxed coastal palette using soft blues and beige. She does not enjoy the more vibrant aqua and teal blues and has requested they not be employed. They both agree that they do not want a flat blue and white scheme. I suggested a warm orange and they both agreed as long as it wasn’t too concentrated.

All furnishings need to be child resistant and designed for longevity.Extra storage will be needed for board games and other school related paraphernalia in the office area

The couple purchased a lounge recently and would like it incorporated into the design. It is a soft mocha suede leather recliner corner suite with out chaise. Barring this the couple would like all soft furnishings and décor items replaced to fit with the coastal theme.

The south facing living room can be quite cool in winter and it was discussed that new window treatments were needed to further insulate the room. Floor length drapes in natural fibresare highly desirable.

Edit: Upon discussing this with Kirsty and Jamie it was decided that the textural element could be achieved through use of fabrics in soft furnishing and baskets etc. and that due to privacy issues with the neighbour a double roller blind that could be pulled to allow light and modesty during the day and an extra layer for warmth at night might be a more practical device.

The flooring throughout has recently been refinished in a dark wenge colour and Kirsty feels she is happy with the current wall colour. Dulux natural white. It was agreed that a refresh of the paint colour was required.

The living room is approximately 7000mmx 5000mm wide with two internal entries and two external French doors leading out onto a bullnose wrap around veranda. There are two 900mm wide windows on the south wall and a shorter 3000mm long wall adjacent, where the sofa currently sits. It was discussed that a custom desk with shelving be installed on this wall with the sofa being relocated further along toward the French doors and western veranda.

The couple requested that all light fittings be changed in the living room. I suggested four down lights for task lighting and a dramatic pendant for aesthetics with a selection of lamp fittings to which the couple agreed this would be adequate. They also requested that the television currently externally mounted on the wall be professionally fitted within a custom tv unit with particular attention paid to sound system requirements.

A 60 day estimation was given with a 30% deposit to start project. The clients agreed to these terms.
