Question: Would an accidental self inflicted injury be recordable if the worker was on the clock when it happened and was then given prescription medication?
Answer: Yes.

For purposes of OSHA recordkeeping, injuries and illnesses occurring in the work environment are considered work-related. Punching in and out with a time clock (or signing in and out) does not affect the outcome for determining work-relatedness.

The following exception does not apply.
(f) The injury or illness is solely the result of personal grooming, self medication for a non-work-related condition, or is intentionally self-inflicted.
This would not be considered personal grooming also the injury was not intentionally inflicted.
