03/0617 / MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
The minutes held on Monday 24th April 2017 were confirmed as a true record and signed by the Chairman. Councillor Wass proposed these as correct and Councillor Deighton seconded them.
04/0617 / MATTERS ARISING FROM THE LAST MEETING
Sgt Milburn e-mailed some data regarding speeding tickets and monitoring of the new speed restrictions on the A66 which was circulated prior to the meeting.
The 2 new noticeboards have been ordered and will be fitted after Appleby Fair.
The clerk has e-mailed BT regarding the unused phone box in the village but has not had a response back yet.
The clerk will write to Councillor Martin Stephenson thanking him for his work as the PC representative and wish him well on his retirement. / HS/DK

The WI has given the parish council £130.00 towards the purchase of a new bench for the village hall.
The year-end accounts have been prepared and signed ready for the internal auditor.
08/0617 / COUNCILLOR REPORTS & UPDATES
Grass cutting – The new lawn mower has arrived. Need a few more volunteers for Sandford village. The parish council appreciates the help from all the volunteers who cut the grass and may possibly have a BBQ at the village hall as a thank you for all the volunteers.
Chamley Arms – Councillor Keetley gave an update. Two residents have expressed an interest in running the pub if and when this ever re-opens. An offer has also been made but this was rejected. The chairman will e-mail the planning dept again at EDC asking what their next step is.
Sandford Village Hall – No further update. Chair to visit again.
Defib for Bleatarn – This has been ordered and await delivery.
Flood works – Councillor Heron and Fell have put in the final bid ad a decision about this will be made at the meeting at the end of June. The PC appreciates the time and effort that Sue Fell has put in to assist on this bid.
MOD Liaison Meeting – The chairman attended this meeting and gave a brief update of the meeting. The MOD have currently put in plans to de-register the common land most parish council’s in attendance where not in agreement with this and are not really why the MOD want to do this.
The chairman mentioned to the MOD that if any flood works were planned in the future would they be in agreement for this to happen and they were quite happy to work with us on any future project.
Application for Footpath – The chairman will apply for funding to Cumbria Community Fund for the rest of the necessary funding after a decision has been made about the flood works grant.
Willow Maze – Steve & Yvonne from the village have kindly taken on the project of re-weaving the willow maze many thanks for this. / DK

09/0617 / PARISH ACTION PLAN
Please see plan distributed at the meeting. Chair has updated this.
10/0617 / COMMUNITY ISSUES
Many thanks to Mr S Atkinson who has prepared the railings at beck side ready for painting. Many thanks also to CCC who have donated the paint for this project. We hope that many local residents will volunteer to help join a working party to paint the railings.
Councillor Daldry has removed a metal bench from the village as this needs to be repaired.

Cumbria Connections – improve broadband in communities
Radio Cumbria – we agreed to take part in this programme.
12/0617 / COUNCILLOR MATTERS
Councillor Daldry mentioned that residents would like something done with the pond in Sandford. This is now overgrown and also grass cuttings have been previously dumped in the pond and it has now silted up and needs dredging or draining. Residents would like to see this re-instated as a pond. The parish council need to find someone to come out and have a look at this to see if anything can be done.
Councillor Harrison mentioned that some wall has come down at Warcop Bridge. The chairman has reported this previously and will chase again. / CH/GD?
