Please check and sign your child’s homework agenda each night. Thanks to those of you who do this faithfully

Math

  • Your child should already know with fluency all multiplication times tables up to the 9’s. Quizzes to assess these facts have been ongoing.If you have not seen 1 minute timed quizzes with a perfect score of 4 then your child needs to spend time learning these facts. I have two links on my website: Extra Math, and Multiplication Drills. In addition the children all have a set of multiplication flash cards. Check to see if your child knows their facts. Congratulations to those students who have surpassed this goal already!

Reading

  • Students should continue to read20 minutes every night.
  • We will continue to read non-fiction for understanding using captions, headings, sub-headings, index, glossary, photos, maps, bold words, among other non-fiction features. Make sure your children completing all reading homework of 20 minutes to improve in fluency and comprehension. They should record all material read in their reading logs nightly and highlight the home reading with a yellow crayon or highlighter.
Writing
  • All class authors are writing on a variety of topics in their writing journals.
  • Students need to use the Writer’s Checklist to make corrections before turning in all work.
  • We are learning many strategies to make our writing passages fresh and interesting for our audiences.

Science/social studies

  • In Science we are finishing up Cycles, beginningsimple & compound machines, energy resources and water/land environments. Look for study materials to come home when testing is announced in the weekly agenda.
  • In Social Studies we are continuing learning about geography and map skills. Use my links to help your child learn all oceans, continents, and certain countries all 3rd graders must locate such as England, France, Spain, Mali Africa, Greece, and Italy.

I am really enjoying getting to know your child and seeing them progressing in our daily studies.Please use the study links on my website if your child needs extra practice with math facts. All BrainPoP Jr. Videos are also available on all subject material AND ELL format. Password information has been sent home with report cards and students have written them in the agenda as well.
