Thesis Binding Guidelines

Thesis Binding overview

The library’s Collection Management office, located on the 2nd floor, facilitates the binding of Master’s Theses, Honors Theses, Graduate Music Research Papers, and Graduate Music Recital Papers.

Required paperwork

A Binding Request Form should accompany all submissions. Please fill out the form completely so that we can expedite processing of the documents. If you had previously been submitting a spreadsheet with document and binding information, feel free to attach it to the Binding Request form. If you need additional copies of the Binding Request form, please contact Allison Kee at x6182.

Student Personal Copies

Students must pay the binding fee for personal copies. Personal copies of theses are bound with the same specifications as library and departmental copies; if different specifications are desired, students must contact a bindery directly.

If a student requests personal copies be mailed to a personal address, the copies will be sent uninsured to one address only for an additional $5. Payment for shipping and handling charges are to be included with binding charges for personal copies.

Current Binding charges

Thesis $10

Recital Paper $14

**Please note: The turnaround time between the date documents are submitted to the library for binding and the date they return from the bindery is approximately 4-6 weeks.

Graduate Education - Master’s Theses

The student is to submit a minimum of three copies with the requisite signatures on the signature page to the Collection Management office of the library (2nd floor). One copy will be placed in the library’s special collection, one copy will be placed in the circulating stacks, and one copy will be returned to the School of Education. All copies are to be submitted to the library ready to be bound, so it is imperative that all editing, signatures, collating, etc. be performed before submitting to the library. Academic departments have additional guidelines for submitting theses to the library, so students should have checked with their graduate office before submitting copies to the library. If theses do not have signatures, they will not be sent to bindery and will be returned to the department.
