Pat Loper made a motion for classified staff to donate 20 cases of bottled water to the Community College Conference in April with the stipulation that stickers on the bottles state they were donated by classified. It was seconded by Penny Ronk and all present voted to approve the motion.

CADV Thanksgiving Project: Penny reported that 3 vehicle loads of donated food and $60 cash was delivered to CADV and they were very appreciative. CADV posted thank you notes on campus the week after Thanksgiving.

Vending Machines: A letter was sent to Bill Reinhard detailing classified’s concerns with the vending machines. Marsha Holford, Pat Loper, Bill and Dorinda Friez will meet with a representative from Pepsi next week. Nothing yet to report on the snack machines.

Christmas Project: Chris Marshall reported the Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) has 17 children that need sponsorship for Christmas presents. The library is already sponsoring two children from DCFS and it was suggested classified could obtain the remaining names and their wish lists and put the tags on the Christmas tree in Berg Hall and try to get groups or departments to go in together because the amount spent should be between $50 and $100 per child. Chris Marshall will contact DCFS this afternoon to obtain the information and send out an email to let the campus know the tags are on the tree.

New Business:

The Foundation Dinner Dance will be held March 1, 2008 and the theme will be “Bowties & Blue Jeans.” It is hoped that more GBC faculty and staff will attend.

Gifts of Love-Classified has done a service project in February before to provide children removed from their homes by the Division of Child & Family Services backpacks with toiletries. It is something classified staff may want to consider again.
