000s--General Works: What will you find here? Books to give you the bare necessities. Encyclopedias, ready reference (Check out the New York Public Library Desk Reference—it’s amazing!), and computer science information is located here.

100s—Philosophy: Having weird dreams? Like studying myths and legends? Enjoy reading those “sappy” stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul? Dealing with some relationship stress? This is the section for you. The 100s contains books dealing with “existence and relationships.”

200s—Religion: Whether someone is studying Christianity or Buddhism, this is the section in which information will be found. Classical Mythology, Greek Mythology, Shinto, Biblical reference guides, etc are all a part of the 200s.

300s—Social Sciences: Law and Government classes love this section of the media center. Teachers having students research careers do, too! Most of the “controversial” issues (abortion, drug use/abuse, child abuse, gangs, etc) are found in this section of the media center. Also, you can find books on “social” issues such as education, customs, weddings, and women’s rights.

400s—Language: Need a dictionary or thesaurus? Look here. French, German, Latin, and Spanish words can be found here in the dictionaries.

500s—Natural Science: All science needs go here. Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Zoology, etc is located here. Need to know the number of protons in Nitrogen? Want to find out about different biomes? Check out this section!

600s—Applied Science/Technology: Someone in your family recently get diagnosed with diabetes, cancer, etc? Need a good recipe? Looking for how to care for your new pet? Need to know how to write a good resume? This is one of the most diverse sections of the library.

700s—Arts/Recreation: This is definitely the entertainment section of the media center. The athletes and the artists love this part of any collection! Whether looking for football, golf, basketball, etc or photography, sculpting, or music, this is the place to be!

800s—Literature: All language arts classes will find this section advantageous for research. Juniors studying American Literature will go to the 810s, seniors studying British/English Literature will head to the 820s, and freshmen and sophomores will be in all areas since they study world literature.

900s—History and Geography: Want to know about any war in history? Want to study America by decades such as the 50s and 60s? Need to know about the presidents of different countries? How about the middle ages and the knights or ancient Greece and Rome? Studying countries and their

resources? Check out this section!!!

92s and 920s—Biographies and Collected Biographies: The 92s will have books which are devoted to a specific person where the 920s may have books on literary or historical figures all together in a series.
