Well done to our teams who represented the school in the BT Young Scientist Awards. They presented their projects in a very professional manner and we are very proud of them qualifying for the finals. Many thanks to our teachers Ms. Sheehy and Mr. O’Flynn.

Today at 12.30pm is the deadline for submitting your son / daughters Completed Common Application Scheme Form for a place in our school commencing September 2018. No applications can be accepted after 12.30pm today.

2nd Year Parent Teacher Meeting will be held today Monday, 15th January 2018 from 3.50pm to 6.20pm. Please bring your son / daughters school journal.

If your son / daughter has the flu or vomiting bug please do not send them to school as these are two extremely contagious viruses. Please keep them at home until fully recovered.

We have reported cases of head lice. Please check your son / daughter's hair. Head lice lay eggs which may appear like dandruff. Larvae hatch from these eggs and may persist. These can jump from head to head or onto clothing. Head lice is treatable with over the counter meds available from your pharmacy. Long hair should be tied back. Thank you.

Back to the 80's school musical. Our TY students are busy putting the final touches to props and costumes and are very excited about our upcoming musical on the 1st and 2nd of February. We would really appreciate the support of parents and students of the school in attending the show. There will also be a raffle on each night with fabulous prizes from the Parent's Council. We will be having a raffle for tickets for our school musical Back to the 80's. There are three prizes of two tickets each. TY students will be selling tickets in class for €1 for a strip or €2 for three. Remember if you are not in you can't win! The raffle will be held on Friday 19th at 11.00 in the Central Area. Our annual Fashion Show is one of the main fundraising events for the school and features our Transition Year students on the catwalk. If you are interested in joining our Fashion Show committee which would entail attending three meetings between January and March 2018, to organise this event we would really appreciate your help. If you are unable to join the committee but are working in a business that would be interested in taking out an advertisement in our Fashion Show Brochure or would like to promote your own business by taking out an advert in our Fashion Show Brochure your support would be greatly appreciated. Advert prices are €100 for a full page (A5) and €50. If you are interested in getting involved or wish to advertise please contact the school office on 061 393105 or email .

The next Fashion Show meeting will take place on tomorrow Tuesday, 16th January 2018 at 8pm in the Front Parlour of Salesian House.

The Parents Association will be making gift baskets as raffle prizes for the upcoming fundraisers in the school (Musical & Fashion Show). Any donations will be welcome especially after Christmas, if you have any unused bottles of wine or gift sets etc. Please drop them into the school office. Many thanks!

1st Year hurling Blitz scheduled later this week confirmation later today Monday. Training continues on Wednesday at 3.30.

Cross Country training takes place this Monday and Friday lunchtimes at 1.25p.m.Students who have entered in the North Munster Schools Cross Country should come to training this week to familiarise themselves with the running route.

This workshop is designed for teenage girls to increase their self-esteem and help them recognise their true value. When you are young teenage a girl your sense of worth, value and purpose can be too easily linked to how we look on the outside. Exploring negative self-talk and how the girls feel about their appearance, Sarah gently encourages open and honest conversations to help the girls embrace their unique qualities and discover their strengths. The girl’s ability to maintain a healthy attitude to diets, exercise and her appearance will play a major part in developing self-esteem and confidence. This work shop will be held for 3rd year girls from 11.15 -12.15 and 2nd year girls from 12.15 - 1.15 in the study.

An information session will take place next Monday, 22nd January 2018 for all 3rd Year students on Transition Year 2018-2019 time tbc. A similar information evening will take place for parents only on Monday, 22nd January 2018 at 7.30pm in the school Hall. Application forms will be available at the information session and the school office. Closing date for applications is Friday, 2nd February 2018. TY interviews will be held from Monday, 5th February to Monday, 9th February 2018.

DAT testing will take place for all 3rd Year students on Wednesday, 24th February 2018. This takes all day. Please ensure you have a HB pencil and eraser with you on the day. Ms. Whelan will talk you through this in your class groups during the week.

The TY cultural Trip to Krakow Poland is 5 weeks away today Monday, the Balance for this trip should be paid immediately.

If you did not do DAT testing in 3rd Year please be aware that it is taking place again Wed 24th of Feb and you will be expected to take the test on this day.

Students should have a CAO number by now. The deadline for the reduced fee is the 20th of January. Please add restricted entry courses by 1st Feb, all other courses do not need to be added until July 1st so there is no need to delay getting a number.
