CLASS TITLE:PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR II

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is advanced land surveying work requiring licensure by the State Board of Land Surveyors.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Plans and administers a major survey work program.
  • Assists in performing compliance reviews and quality control for a statewide survey program.
  • Establishes scope of services for a statewide survey program.
  • Performs compliance review and quality control for a statewide survey program.
  • Provides detailed coordination with consultant surveyors regarding requirements for field work, right-of-way maps, plats, or legal descriptions.
  • Assists in the coordination of the preparation of right-of-way maps or legal descriptions.
  • Assists in a program of preserving and remonumenting land corners.
  • Assists in the field or office practice of monumentation of or state owned lands.
  • Coordinates the preparation of expert testimony regarding survey matters, including the preparation of exhibits for use in condemnation cases.
  • Coordinates a program determining and/or mapping datum planes and boundaries.
  • Coordinates the preparation of right-of-way reservation maps.
  • Assists in conducting public hearings on right-of-way reservations.
  • Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of land and/or hydrographic surveying terminology, principles, practices, tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of engineering quantitative techniques.
  • Skill in using land surveying and/or hydrographic instruments and equipment.
  • Skill in preparing maps.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret land surveying and/or hydrographic data.
  • Ability to perform land surveying calculations.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Registration as a Land Surveyor in accordance with Florida Statute 472 and one year of post-registration land surveying experience.
