CLASS TITLE:PLANNING CONSULTANT

This is professional work coordinating the planning, data analysis and research grant activities for an agency.

  • Advises and coordinates federal, state, local, and regional planning units in the development of plans and programs.
  • Prepares recommendations for elements of the State Comprehensive Plan.
  • Participates in conferences, workshops, inter-agency committees, and similar activities relevant to the assigned functional area of responsibility.
  • Works with other staff planners to ensure planning coordination among functional areas.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate reports and records describing planning activities in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Coordinates public health planning and evaluation within the Health Program Office.
  • Establishes and maintains liaison with federal, state and private agencies related to program planning.
  • Reviews and recommends action related to program grants and contract applications.
  • Conducts special studies and inquiries relating to various public health problems.
  • Coordinates data processing applications and control within the Health Program Office.
  • Provides consultation to associates, subordinates and the general public on matters pertaining to program planning and evaluation, data analysis and data development.
  • Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree from a college or university and four years of professional experience in planning, evaluation, research, analysis, business, government, social, health or rehabilitative services or fiscal work.
  • A master's degree from a college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • A doctorate from a college or university can substitute for two years of the required experience.
  • Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
