CLASS TITLE:INVESTIGATION SPECIALIST I - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work conducting investigations of alleged violations of the Florida Statutes involving professional and/or regulatory boards, environmental issues, public assistance programs, the Human Rights Act of 1977, the Florida Elections Commission, and the Commission on Human Relations.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Investigates past activities of applicants for licensure.
  • Contacts and interviews witnesses, employers and others involved in alleged regulatory and criminal violations.
  • Reviews court records and obtains extracts of pertinent data for documentary evidence.
  • Assists higher-level investigators with more complex investigations.
  • Conducts routine investigations for procurement of evidence of unlawful operations.
  • Prepares detailed analysis and reports on cases, providing progress on each case.
  • Prepares detailed analysis of evidence.
  • Conducts investigations with friendly and adverse witnesses.
  • Conducts undercover activities.
  • Takes depositions.
  • Presents cases to prosecutors based on established procedures.
  • Testifies and appears before Commission panels, court proceedings, and administrative hearings.
  • Performs surveillance on unlicensed establishments and individuals to substantiate unlawful activity.
  • Recommends legal sufficiency of a case after evidence is gathered.
  • Appears before probable cause panels, prosecutorial, and judicial officials to present findings.
  • Serves summons and subpoenas.
  • Works closely with law enforcement officials when conducting criminal investigations.
  • Conducts fact-finding conferences, takes testimony from parties to the complaint and their witnesses, and negotiates agreements to settle or conciliate complaints.
  • Performs related work as required.
