CLASS TITLE:EXECUTIVE NURSING DIRECTOR
ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)
This is administrative work planning and directing all nursing and teaching activities in a state hospital for the mentally or physically ill, or in a medical/surgical unit and/or an extended care facility certified as a distinct part of a state hospital for the mentally or physically ill. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

- Develops and executes plans for the organization and direction of nursing services and nursing training programs.
- Initiates and coordinates studies to determine the validity of the existing nursing methods and procedures.
- Reviews and analyzes reports from supervisory nursing personnel.
- Directs budgetary planning for all nursing equipment and supplies.
- Prepares executive memoranda concerning new policies or changes in existing policies.
- Directs the selection of all professional nursing personnel and student nurses.
- Attends and participates in nursing hospital and staff conferences.
- Directs and participates in the development of orientation programs for all professional and paraprofessional nursing personnel.
- Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Florida Administrative Code 210-8.27 and four years of professional nursing experience, one year of which must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in nursing can substitute for one year of the required general professional nursing experience.
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or nursing education can substitute for two years of the required general professional nursing experience.
