CLASS TITLE:EQUIPMENT OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE ADMINISTRATOR - DMS - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is work developing, planning and directing a statewide equipment maintenance program for the effective and efficient management of state equipment. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Develops a statewide equipment maintenance network to provide for the effective and efficient management of state equipment.
  • Plans, directs and controls all state maintenance facilities activities.
  • Develops and evaluates all procedures governing equipment servicing schedules, equipment maintenance practices, equipment warranty compliances and safety inspections.
  • Analyzes excessive equipment maintenance and servicing costs and takes action to bring costs in line.
  • Develops and conducts training and safety programs for equipment maintenance personnel.
  • Monitors state shop facilities repair capabilities and assures most efficient utilization of facilities and personnel.
  • Develops and directs a preventive maintenance program for all state equipment.
  • Provides technical advice to maintenance facility personnel. Investigates new maintenance service practices and evaluates feasibility of application to state needs.
  • Recommends location and design of new maintenance facilities.
  • Performs related work as required.
