CLASS TITLE:CHEMIST III

This is independent professional work performing a wide variety of complex chemical, biochemical, and physical analyses.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

- Inspects and reports on the chemical and bacteriological operation of public water filtration plants by inspecting new plant facilities, reviews bacteriological reports of tests run at existing plants, and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Prepares materials for in-service training programs for water filtration plant operators and interprets water treatment requirements to associates, plant operators, and the public.
- Participates in radiochemical analyses performed in the laboratory.
- Standardizes procedures for chemical analyses in laboratories.
- Develops improved analytical techniques; studies new developments in the industry; visits other laboratories and tests new analytical methods.
- Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in chemistry or biochemistry and two years of professional chemical or biochemical experience; or
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in chemistry or biochemistry and one year of professional experience as described above; or
- A doctorate from an accredited college or university with a major course of study in chemistry or biochemistry.
