CLASS TITLE:BIOLOGICAL ADMINISTRATOR I - SES

ALLOCATION FACTOR(S)

This is managerial work directing a biological, microbiological, or entomological program. The employee(s) in the position(s) allocated to this class exercise(s) independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of budgets.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Directs and participates in complex research projects that require the origination of new scientific techniques and methodology.
  • Prepares reports and/or articles for publication in scientific journals and reviews reports and/or articles compiled by subordinates.
  • Reviews programs of the state's mosquito control districts.
  • Consults with health officials on matters of policy changes and program planning where laboratory testing is involved.
  • Administers state laboratory personnel licensure or related programs.
  • Directs a public health branch laboratory, assists in directing a large regional laboratory, or directs related laboratory regulatory programs.
  • Works with local officials to gain approval for cooperative research projects.
  • Performs related work as required.
