CATALOG DESCRIPTION: This course is an introduction to the scientific study of behavior through an exploration of the major concepts and research in the field of psychology. The course provides the basic foundation for more advanced courses in psychology. (UC, CSU, CAN PSY 2)

OBLIGATION OF THE STUDENT: Each student who registers for this course should attend on a regular basis, be on time, and be current on the required readings. In addition, any student who anticipates numerous absences due to their academic pattern should drop the course opposed to being dropped or receiving a poor grade.

GRADING PROCEDURE: There will be a total of four tests and one type-written paper that yields a total of 125 points. Each of the four tests will contain 25 multiple-choice selected questions from the assigned readings and lectures. The assigned paper must be type-written, double-spaced, ONE FULL PAGE with one-inch borders, handed in on time.

Each semester there has been at least a few students who did not type the paper, tried to turn it in late, or, tried to submit a paper less than ONE FULL PAGE that resulted in a ZERO. If your paper exceeds one page, please STAPLE the pages together.

THERE ARE NOT MAKE-UP TESTS REGARDLESS OF THE REASON, REAL OR OTHERWISE. STUDENTS MAY TAKE A TEST EARLY IF PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS ARE MADE AT LEAST ONE FULL WEEK IN ADVANCE.

Final grades will be determined by adding all scores and dividing by five to yield the percentage average.

Percentage: 90 – 100 = A

80 – 89 = B

70 – 79 = C

60 – 69 = D

0 – 59 = F
