CLAREMONT SPEEDWAY2016 SUPER STREET RULES

Since it would be nearly impossible and impractical to list within these rules all modifications,adaptations or infraction, it will be understood that: if it is not covered within the rules below,ASK. In addition Claremont Speedway, (CS), reserves the right to fine, suspend, withholdmoney and/or points from anyone who is out of line of these rules or any rule infraction. CSreserves the right to modify, delete, amend or update these rules as need be.

THE MOSTIMPORTANT RULE THERE IS THE “INTERPRETATION RULE”, IF YOU FEELTHAT YOU INTERPRET THE RULE DIFFERENT THAN CS OFFICIALS DO. ASKNOW.

ELIGIBLE MODELS:

Any American made passenger car with a minimum wheelbase of 101”. The wheelbasemust be a minimum of 101” and a maximum of 108.1” on all chassis. The only full framechassis allowed is a metric 108.1” wheelbase frame. The aftermarket replacement metric frameis allowed. All cars with Camaro snouts must use a front steer snout. Tube snouts are allowed.All frames, snouts and roll cages must be magnetic steel.

ENGINE LOCATION:

1. The number one (1) spark plug hex can be no further back than the center line of theupper ball joints.

2. Any chassis that has the engine further back than rule #1, will receive a minimum 50pound weight penalty to the right side frame rail after the car meets weight for the optionthat the car is running.

3. The engine must be centered in the chassis in the engine bay.

4. The minimum crankshaft center line height is 10” to the ground.

WEIGHT:

1. All cars will be weighed before any race and meet the weights as listed below.

2. All weights are with the driver in their seat with hands on the steering wheel, in raceready position with all safety equipment, (helmet, neck brace and radio).

3. Cars must meet weight requirements before the race.

  • Stock Metric Frame withOEM rear cross member and OEM four link minimum weight 2850 lbs. with 57% leftside weight.
  • Stock Metric Chassis/Johnson Stock Metric replacement chassis with three pointrear suspension or Four Link Late Model type suspension 2875 lbs. with 56% left side weight.
  • Metric frame with modifications, underslung rear, metric snout only, and etc. 2875 lbs. with 55% left side weight.
  • Tube chassis, (including any modification to the chassis & Camaro Clip or wide frameGM), minimum weight 2950 lbs. with 55% left side weight.
  • Unsealed crate or built engines will add 50 lbs. to chassis weight.

4. A 0.25% tolerance on total weight will be allowed.

5. All weights will be monitored and subject to adjustments.

6. No car can be lifted before any weigh in. All cars will start the race with the air pressurein the tires the way the car went through preraceweigh in.

BODY:

1. Any OEM appearing aftermarket body or homemade body, Trucks allowed. All bodydamage must be repaired weekly. Cars must be clean and neat in appearance weekly.

2. Any down force body, (weight subject to change).

3. All bodies must have a full Lexan windshield and the rear bodyarea enclosed with no holes. No exposed bumpers.

4. All interior sheet metal must be a minimum of 22 gauges 0.031 magnetic steel or.040 aluminum.

5. All roofs must be a minimum of 46” from the ground measured back 10” from the topcenter of the windshield.

6. Firewalls must completely seal off the driver from the engine bay and trunk areas.There must be a flat area where the shifter comes through the floor.

7. All bottoms of fenders, doors, wheel wells and rocker panels must be rolled orbent inward toward the chassis.

8. Air filters may be through the hood. A maximum of 6” is allowed for all air filterelements. All hoods must be on the car unless the car has been in an accident and thehood mounting hardware is damaged and can’t be repaired.

9. Any plastic rub rails allowed. If using metal, rail must be 1x 1 x .090 box tubing.This must be tight to the body and have ends cut to 45 degree and capped. Rub rails must be held on with button head screws or carriage bolts and must be straight with no sharp edges. Will be monitored and if found non-compliant, they will be repaired or removed immediately. NO EXCUSES.

10. Spoilers may be up to 10” tall and must be made from clear Lexan unless you are using a Five Star stock aluminum spoiler. Lexan spoilers must maintain a uniform height. No boxing of the spoiler is allowed. No other wind modifications can be made to the body of the car.

CHASSIS:

1. All snouts, unibodies,frames and cages must be magnetic steel.

2. Any chassis with a Camaro snout must use a minimum of 2”x3” steelbox tubing when fabricating the center bay. Rear frame rails from the center of the rearrearward may be replaced with a minimum of 2” x 2” steel box tubing for the rear clip.

3. All tube frame cars must be a minimum 2” x 3 steel box tubing from front springs to therear springs. The minimum tubing allowed from the springs forward and rearward fromthe springs will be a minimum of 2” x 2” steel box tubing.

4. Metric frame chassis may box the center bay or replace it with a minimum of 2” x 3” steelbox tubing. Rear frame rails from the center of the rear rearward may be replaced with aminimum 2” x 2” steel box tubing.

5. Three point rear suspension allowed on all chassis. All cars may choose froman OEM lowertrailing arm, a fabricated lower trailing arm or an aftermarket one. The upper 3rd link maybe OEM or aftermarket.

6. The pan hard bar must have a ¾”heim joint mounted on each end and be a one (1) piecemetal unit.

7. The upper third link must be mounted to the rear end housing. Truck arms allowed. Nofloating brackets.

8. Bottom of frame will have a minimum of 4” ground clearance at all times. Nolifting the car at any time.

9. Racing springs allowed. Conventional jacking bolts or coil over eliminator allowed on allfour springs. No coil overs. Leaf spring cars may have adjustable lowering blocks andshackles. All coil springs will have a minimum 5” O.D. All springs must magnetic steel.

10. Any front sway bar may be used. No rear sway bar allowed.

11. Tubular Aframesallowed. An approved piece of chain may be used on the lower frontsuspension and attach to the frame.

12. All spindles must be magnetic steel. The front brake rotors and hubs may be aftermarketOEM appearing steel single piston brake caliper.

13. All chassis must have magnetic steel steering box, idler arm and drag link. Aftermarkettie rods and heim joints allowed. Steering box must be functional. No rack and pinion.

14. All lower control arms must be the same length left to right.

15. Any ball joints or mono balls.

16. Lower Aframemounting hole may be modified.

17. The only take-apart, re-buildable or adjustable shocks that are allowed are the QA1 stockmount steel FC Series,or the 50 or 51 Series re-valveableand re-buildable. All parts that are usedto rebuild or adjust these shocks must be the original parts offered by QA1 and available toeveryone by QA1 or its dealers. The only part that can be modified is the bleed hole in thepiston. It may be redrilled.The FC Series shocks may have extensions or spacer on thetop or bottom. Only one (1) shock per wheel allowed. No shock will cost any more than$140.00 racers net new for everyone. No aluminum, coil over or threaded body shocksallowed. Shocks must be steel body. CS reserves the right to confiscate any shock forevaluation. If any shock fails to meet the specs listed above, the owner of the shock(s) willbe responsible for any fees that are incurred. If any shock is found out of spec there will bea penalty.

18. A fuel cell is mandatory. The fuel cell must be in the trunk area and as close to the back of the rear end as possible. All cars must have a fuel cell bar. The bar location will be underthe back of the car and behind the fuel cell. The bottom of the bar must be below thebottom of the fuel cell and a minimum of 24” wide and fabricated from 1¾” minimumtubing. A 1¾” tubing brace must be welded at each end of the bar(Approximately45 degrees to the frame rails). No add on weight allowed on any part of the fuel cellmounts or bars. There must be a metal frame under the fuel cell with a minimum of three(3), 1” x 1” (minimum dimension allowed), magnetic steel box tubing pieces. The top ofthe fuel cell must be mounted securely with four (4) 1 ¼” metal straps with two (2) goingin each direction. All fuel cells must have a rollover valve in the cell or the vent line.Maximum capacity: 22 gallons. Fuel cell must be enclosed in a 22 gauge steel 0.031”thick magnetic steel container. The bottom of the fuel cell container will be no lowerthan 8” from the ground with the chassis at race height.

19. Any magnetic steel driveshaft allowed.

20. Aftermarket radiators allowed. No coolers allowed inside the radiator tanks. A shroudmust cover the top of the fan if mechanical fan is used. Electric fans allowed.

21. Steel racing wheels mandatory. 8” maximum width allowed.

22. Must run Claremont Speedway provided track tires.(Tires will be branded)

ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN

American made blocks only. No aluminum or soft metal blocks allowed. No LS Engines. GM 350 c.i. blockonly. All blocks other than the crate engines will be allowed .040 overbore, including wear.

1. Any 3 ring flat top piston allowed. Valve relief may be milled into the piston. Noportion of the piston may protrude above the block.

2. Stock OEM appearing correct dimension magnetic steel rods for block used. Stock length5.7” for Chevy.

3. Any OEM 350 CI appearing crankshaft allowed. No lightening, undercutting, REM polishing, or knife edging of crankshafts. Stroke 3.480 to 3.500 is allowed. Maximum undersize of bearing journals is 0.030. All crankshafts will be 48 pound minimum weight. Maximum RETAIL cost of crankshaft will be $1000.00 available to anyone. Not on sale or clearance priced. CRANKSHAFTS WILL BECHECKED IF CS FEELS NECESSARY.

4. Lifters must be solid or hydraulic and the correct O.D. for block used. The O.D.measurement is .842. No roller or mushroom lifters allowed. NO CAMSHAFT WILLHAVE A LIFT GREATER THAN .466 AT EITHER THE INTAKE OR EXHAUSTVALVE. VALVE LASH WILL BE SET AT .000 WHEN MEASURING THE LIFTNO CAMSHAFT WILL HAVE A LIFT GREATER THAN .30666 AT THE CAMSHAFT.The valve lift and cam will be measured at the valve and cam.

5. Roller rockers allowed. All rocker arms must be independent of each other. Stud girdlesallowed. All engines must use a maximum 1.52” ratio rocker arm.

6. No gear drive or belt drive timing components allowed.

7. Fuel pump must be in stock OEM location. no electric fuel pumps.

8. Aftermarket belt driven water pumps allowed. Must be in OEM location.

9. Aftermarket alternator allowed, if an alternator is used, it must be bolted to theengine. No alternator will be built into the water pump. No smog pumps.

10. All power steering pumps must be bolted to engine.

11. All distributors must be a cast housing H.E.I. No billet housings, external coilsor ignition boxes. All parts to make the distributor function must be under the cap ofthe distributor.

12. Aftermarket wet sump pan allowed.

13. Starter must be in OEM stock location on the block and mounted in the same directionas OEM.

14. A minimum O.D. dimension of 6 ¾” harmonic balancers will be permitted.

15. Electronic switching devices or sensors will not be permitted on the harmonic balancer,crankshaft, flywheel or rear end.

16. You may have two batteries in the car, but only one can be providing voltage to the car at any given time. The other would be for backup purposes only. A switch can be installed for changing batteries. Voltage cannot exceed 13.5 volts.

CLUTCH/TRANSMISSION:

1. The total weight for clutch disc, pressure plate and flywheel will be a minimum of

30 pound. The minimum dimension for clutch disc and pressure plate is 10.4”. The

pressure plate and flywheel must be OEM stock appearing for block used. No multidisc

clutches allowed. Solid center clutch disks are allowed. The GM crate engine will use

flywheel part #14088646 or a magnetic steel replacement weight must be equivalent.

2. No automatic transmissions.

3. All transmissions must be OEM production stock for engine used. All gears must be

working. No lightening of any internal transmission parts. No modifications. All

transmissions must be stock. The key word here is stock. NO REM POLISH

REAR ENDS

1. Floaters, conventional quick change (with a minimum of a 10” ring gear) straight rears andOEM rear ends allowed. NO REM POLISH

2. The maximum tread width allowed is 64 ½” measured at the center of the wheels. (this can also be measured 72.5” from outer edge of the bead left to outer edge of the bead right) All wheels must be steel.

3. All rear ends must be locked. A spool is mandatory.

BRAKES:

1. Disc brakes allowed. Any stock appearing steel single piston caliper allowed. All rotorsmust be steel vein type with a minimum thickness of 1.00”. All mounting brackets must beattached solidly to the rear end housing. Aftermarket pedals and master cylinders allowed.

NON GM CRATE HEADS:

1. Casting numbers must document that the casting used is a minimum of 70 cc’s with theintake valve no larger than 1.940 and exhaust valves are no larger than 1.500.

2. The only heads allowed are (OUT OF THE BOX). No bow tie, angle plug, turbo, vortexor any other aftermarket heads allowed.

3. All non GM crate engine heads may be milled to a minimum of 70 cc, machined for screwin studs, guide plates and drill pushrods guide holes NO GRINDING, BEADING, DIPPING,ACIDING, HAMMERING, PEANING, HONING, SALTING or anything else you can thinkof. These heads will be checked and confiscated if a second opinion is needed.

4. Valve guides may be replaced. Valve guides must be left at OEM height in all the ports. Allvalve guides and valves must be in the correct angle for casting used.

5. Any valve seals allowed.

6. The maximum O.D. valve spring allowed is 1.250. The largest intake valve allowed is1.940”. The largest exhaust valve allowed is 1.50”. No cut back angles on valves. Allvalves must be OEM dimension. No lightweight or titanium valves allowed. One angleon the valve and three angles allowed on valve seat.All valve spring retainers must bemagnetic steel.

CLAREMONT SPEEDWAY NON CRATE ENGINE HEAD RULE:

Work allowed on the valve seat is as follows: No angle cuts, metal removed or enlarging ofthe ports allowed below the top of the valve seat to a depth greater than: .171 from the top ofthe valve seat to top of the gauge in the intake valve port side of head .121 from the top of thevalve seat to top of the gauge in the exhaust valve port side of head measurements will bestrictly enforced by the use of Claremont Speedway’s nogogauge.Exhaust: 1.350” O.D. of gauge on exhaust Intake: 1.718” O.D. of gauge on intake

CARBURETOR/SPACER/AIR CLEANERS:

1. One (1) Holley #4412, 500 CFM carburetor mandatory on all non crate engines. Chokebutterfly and shaft may be removed. Holley externally chargeable jet fuel bowl may beused. Any power valve allowed. Accelerator pump may be changed. Idle holes may bedrilled in the butterflies. The butterfly screws may be trimmed flush with the throttle shaft.No other modifications will be allowed. The carburetor will be checked with CS gauges. NoHolley performance parts.

2. A 1” thick carburetor spacer allowed on all non crate engines with one (1) .075” gasket perside. Any air filter housing is allowed. No added air inlets to air cleaner. Only one (1) airfilter allowed with a maximum of 6 inches is allowed

3. Cold air boxes allowed.

INTAKE MANIFOLD:

1. The only intake manifold allowed will be the current Edelbrock Performer 2101. All intakes mustbe stock out of the box. No modifications allowed. All sand casting marks and parting linesmust be visible. All crate engines must use the intake that the engine is sealed with from themanufacturer.

EXHAUST:

1. Headers must be street type chassis headers or conventional up and over. All four (4)primary tubes must exit into one (1) collector for the left side of the engine and one (1)collector for the right side of the engine. No merge or pyramid collectors allowed. Balancetubes allowed.

2. Mufflers required. One (1) muffler for each header collector or two into one allowed afterthe collectors. Any muffler/exhaust that CS officials feel is too loud will be required tochange them before the next race. All exhaust pipes must exit behind the driver under thecar with turn downs or exit out the rear of the right door. All exhaust that exits the door musthave a box mounted to the door for the exhaust. All exhaust that exits out the door will be atleast 1” inside the box.

PAINT AND LETTERING:

1. All cars must be numbered. All numbers must be confirmed with Claremont Speedway.We do not want cars within the same division to have the same number. Please try to pick a unique number. If two teams want the same number, we will refer to last year’s points within the division to determine who gets the number. Other than that, it will be first come first serve. We do not want to use states or letters to differentiate the cars. This is for the benefit of the scorers.Numbers must be on both doors and the roof and be a minimum of 18” high. Roofnumbers must be read from the passenger side of the car. All numbers must be distinctlycontrasting to the color of the car. All cars must have their car number on the upper righthand corner or the windshield, minimum height of 6”, and be the color white. All numbersto be subject to visual approval by the head scorer.
