YEAR 7 Ski Visit – France 2018
The proposed 2018 Year 7 Ski Visit has been reserved with our Tour Operator Skibound.
Dates : Saturday 20th January 2018 - Saturday 27th January 2018.
Resort: Alpe d’Huez / Hotel Belle Aurore.
Total Cost: £920.
The price includes:
· Return flight (Newcastle/ departure )
· All coach transfers, airport to resort
· Seven days full board accommodation with Breakfast/ Cooked Lunch / Evening Meal)
· Full insurance cover
· Six days skiing ( four hours tuition per day )
· Lift Pass
· Hire of skis/ boots/ski poles/helmet
· All evening entertainment
The price does not include:
· Pocket money
· Ski suit or ski jacket and salopettes
· Ski School Proficiency badge ( 7 euros ).
At the resort there are large nursery slopes with an array of interconnecting, black, red. blue and green runs, linked to modern lifts.
In deciding whether your child would benefit from an experience like this, it is important to remember that skiing is very strenuous especially as a beginner.
The footwear feels clumsy and sacrifices have to be made to make every effort to overcome the challenges that skiing may pose. It is a challenge !
In my experience the vast majority of children thoroughly enjoy the challenges and really benefit from the whole experience.
The course each day includes 4 hours of skiing so pupils need to be fit. As mountain environments are potentially dangerous, it is essential that pupils are able to listen and obey instructions given by the French ski instructors as well as accompanying GCMS staff.
The Alpe D’Huez has become extremely popular with school travel groups and we will be
Travelling with Gosforth East Middle School as well as staying in the same hotel.
Skiing is an expensive activity and Newcastle Ski Association negotiates some very competitive rates with our tour provider Skibound. I appreciate that £920 is a very large financial outlay and it is for this reason at this stage, I would like you to sign the reply slip to register your interest in securing a place for your child, with no financial commitments at this stage.
Finally I would add that when your child is offered a place on the visit, the school reserves the right to cancel your child’s place should progressive poor behaviour in school be demonstrated during the course of the school year.
