Development Manager Person Specification

Essential / Desirable
Qualifications / BA, BSc, qualification or equivalent or significant appropriate experience
A valid license for driving in the UK required (own car preferable). / ILM/CIM qualification.
CIH or CIPD qualified
Sports and Leisure qualifications
Experience / Experience of writing funding proposals, tenders and bids.
Proven track record of successful development of schemes or projects
Managing revenue and capital budgets
The post holder is required to have experience in supervising a team in order to ensure achievement of targets or line manage one or two staff members. / Experience of working within a hostel setting or similar environment.
Planning or Building development experience.
Working in the YMCA.
Knowledge / The post holder is required to develop, maintain and apply a professional, or advanced technical skill or a variety of specialist administrative skills, knowledge and expertise and provide guidance and advice to others in relation to development of housing, support and/or sport projects.
The post holder will be required to use analytical and interpretative thinking in order to either analyse and interpret complex technical information to anticipate and resolve potential problems within existing systems and ways of working; or design and develop new ideas developing fresh approaches for the development of systems and ways of working.
Specific knowledge of project management.
Knowledge of specific problem solving techniques and decision making practices.

Skills / The post holder is required to promote extensive collaborative working. This may include establishing and leading networks, motivating, advocacy and high level facilitation, negotiation or promotional activities with the purpose of contributing to social change within the community.
The post holder is required to use communication skills for the purposes of influencing key decision makers in society or government or the wider Movement and will have a substantial impact.

Behaviour / Attributes / The post holder is required to have a detailed understanding of how on a day to day basis their behaviours and attitudes positively contribute to the SMT, different teams within Liverpool YMCA and the staff teams of different YMCA’s and lastly external agencies, to the understanding of the Christian Aims and Purposes of the YMCA.
It is essential the post holder quickly develops a reputation for trustworthiness, credibility and reliability.
