Position Concept:

Under the direction from the Director; operates the circulation desk, answer the phones and take care of customer needs. The Library Clerk performs duties, including Compiling records, use of library database, associated with the functions of the library.

The most important and essential job function of the position is attitude which includes the following: interacting positively and cooperating with co-workers, responding politely to customers, working as a team member, functioning under time pressure, multi-tasking and responding in a positive manner to supervision.

The Library Clerk I may perform other related duties and tasks, as required and shall have the physical, mental and emotional abilities to perform the essential job duties of the position.

Essential Functions:

  • Compiles records, sorts and shelves books, and issues and receives library materials, such as books, reference materials and magazines
  • Registers new customers
  • Assists in controlling status of books and materials in circulation
  • Answer telephone and provide general library information
  • Conduct children’s programs
  • Assist in planning and developing new programs
  • Deliver homebound customers library books and pick up returns
  • .
  • Communicate via telephone
  • Operates office machines
  • Maintain files

Education, Professional Certification or License:

  • High School or GED
  • Valid Florida driver’s license

Blood and Viral Pathogen Risk:[X] Minimal Risk [ ] Foreseeable Risk

Environmental Conditions:

  • Works in an office environment under normal conditions
  • Works extended periods of time with CRT monitor
  • Must be available to work 1 evening per week and every 3rd Saturday
