Monthly City Meeting
June 21, 2010
Mayor Holsclaw opened the meeting at 7:31 pm. Commissioners Budniak, Coomer and Crockett and City Officials Alvey, Trautwein, Chauvin and Green were present. Commissioner Streit arrived at 7:50pm after volunteering at a charity golf scramble.

MAY MEETING MINUTES
There were no changes to the draft of the May minutes. Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to approve the May minutes. Commissioner Coomer seconded the motion. All were in favor.
TREASURER’S REPORT
City Treasurer Alvey read the financial report for May 2010. Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to approve the Treasurer’s Report pending audit. Commissioner Budniak seconded the motion. All were in favor.
ORDINANCES - BILLS FOR PAYMENT
Mayor Holsclaw presented the bills for the month of May. Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to approve the ordinance to pay the bills as written. Commissioner Crockett seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to approve KLC bill, submitted by Commissioner Streit during his safety report, added as Warrant 6-18 to Ordinances. Commissioner Coomer seconded the motion. All were in favor.
MAYOR’S REPORT
Mayor Holsclaw announced nominations for the Ethics Committee. David Crittenden would like to leave his position on the Ethics Committee, but would stay if no other resident expressed interest. Mayor Holsclaw stated that Sam Ward was interested in serving. Mayor Holsclaw nominated Sam Ward and Pat Harris for the Ethics Committee; Pat Harris being reappointed for her term. Commissioner Crockett seconded the motion. All were in favor.
SANITATION
Nothing to report. Commissioner Crockett left a message with Rumpke regarding our request that the garbage cans be set down easier onto the pavement. She has gotten no response Rumpke nor has she received any new complaints from residents.
ROADS & MAINTENANCE
Discussion was held regarding “lost pet” signs that have been posted/attached to Barbourmeade sign posts. Commissioner Coomer recommends citing residents or sending a letter reminding residents not to attach “lost” or “yard sale” signs to our sign posts. City Attorney Chauvin will ask the Barbour Manor Commission to include this request in their neighborhood newsletter. Discussion was held regarding attaching clear holders to Barbourmeade sign posts in which residents could place their signs. It was decided that Commissioner Coomer would call the resident and ask them to remove any signs attached to Barbourmeade sign posts, stressing that residents can be cited for this and will be charged for any damages to the sign post.
Commissioner Coomer no longer has a home telephone and requested his contact number be changed to (502)585-2115.
ANIMALS
Nothing to report.
BEAUTIFICATION
Commissioner Budniak reported that the light on Pinehurst is on. Commissioner Budniak purchased a plastic liner for the metal box which prohibits the light from being vandalized.
An LG&E pole was down for several days, but has now been fixed. Commissioner Budniak will speak with the resident at 7508 Brownsboro Rd. regarding yard maintenance.
SAFETY & INSURANCE
Commissioner Streit submitted a bill to City Treasurer Alvey for liability insurance to KLC. May safety report – 3 citations and 1 warning were issued. A traffic stop and an arrest were also made. Mayor Holsclaw stated that the report she received from Meadow Vale Police was not as detailed as the previous report; however, Commissioner Streit did receive a detailed report. Meadow Vale Police worked 86 hours in May. Work cell numbers for Sgt. John Nissen: (502)494-4905 and Chief Connie Henson: (502)432-0222. Mayor Holsclaw contacted Sgt. Nissen and asked him to cite and speak with a resident on Pine Meadows regarding jet skis and boat.
CITY ENGINEER
MSD is on schedule to fix the ditch at 7807 Pine Meadows this fall. Census maps are correct and have been sent in. Building plans for the property on Hillvale from Dr. Voight have not been sent to City Engineer Trautwein.
CITY ATTORNEY
The resident who owns the property at 7909 Brownsboro Road has been identified. A letter has been sent to the resident regarding premises maintenance. City Attorney Chauvin believes there to be a possible foreclosure on the property and if so, a lien should be filed.
OLD BUSINESS
Annual Budget for fiscal year July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011 was read for the second time as Ordinance 2-2010. Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to approve the budget. Commissioner Crockett seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Ordinance 1-2010, levying of Ad Valorem tax on real estate ($.210 cents per $100.00 of valuation), was read for the second time. Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to approve Ordinance 1-2010. Commissioner Streit seconded to motion. All were in favor.
City Treasurer Alvey will make corrections to the Ordinances as discussed and forward to Mayor Holsclaw and City Clerk Green for their signatures.
NEW BUSINESS
Hal Heiner will address the Jefferson County League of Cities monthly meeting on September 16, 2010. Greg Fisher will address the Jefferson County League of Cities monthly meeting on October 21, 2010.
There being no further business to discuss, Mayor Holsclaw made a motion to adjourn and Commissioner Crockett seconded the motion. All were in favor. Mayor Holsclaw adjourned the meeting at 8:56 p.m.
