City of Angels Animal Sanctuary is a family-owned 501(c)3 No-Kill non-profit animal rescue offering short and long term care to any homeless, abandoned or abused animal. We pride ourselves in offering high quality and loving care to all that are sheltered.

We are located on 12 acres of clear and wooded property. About 5 acres is fenced off and maintained as farm and residential/office property which represents a significant tax benefit. The remaining 7 acres includes 2 storage facilities and access to an irrigation canal.

There is water well, city water and co-op electricity on the property. The well and city water are used for supply water and to irrigate the property. Each residence has its own septic tank.We have acreage and members who are very experienced in building the proper facilities to accommodate these animals properly.

All of the members of City of Angels Animal Sanctuary are animal lovers themselves. At one time this property was home to cattle, pigs, chickens, rabbits, peacocks and of course, dogs and cats. Presently we have an adopted mustang; we have a mini horse that was given up by someone who could no longer take care of him. We havedogs and cats that were abandoned by their owners, some that have had litters.

When we take in an animal for whatever reason, wefirst make sure that he/sheis healthy. If medical attention is required, we will have them taken care of immediately. Next, we will place them in a safe environment; provide them with food, water and shelter.Daily walks and behavioral management will be provided. If an adoption happens, applicants will undergo a thorough background check.

Of course, if any of our residents do not get adopted, they will remain lifetime members of City of Angels.

Our primary purpose is to provide a comfortable, safe place for animals that arehomeless, abandoned, abused or given up by the owners who can no longer care for them.

We also realize that some of those living in domestic violence situations delay leaving their abusers for fear of the lives of their pets they will have to leave behind. Beloved pets often become pawns in abusive relationships; an object to be used to instill fear in their victims, to further control them, to punish them or show them what will happen if they tell about the abuse.

It's this fear that keeps victims of abuse in constant terror. They know that the minute they leave, their abuser will take their anger out on their pets by seriously harming or even killing them. By the time victims are ready to leave their abusers, their self esteem has been battered and they have been alienated from most of their family and friends, they don't think they can leave and more often than not, have no place to go. And the longer a victim waits, the greater danger they put themselves and their pets in.

When a victim has finally gotten the help and strength to leave, the State funded safe houses where they stay do not allow pets to be brought in or do not have the appropriate facilities to house animals. There are many domestic violence shelters that have cooperative agreements with local animal shelters for temporary housing of animals while victims are residing at the shelter. Unfortunately, due to limited space, animals can only be held for very short periods of time or not at all.

That is why we are also willing to help accommodate the needs of those who feel they cannot leave because of their pets. Time is very critical in domestic violence situations; any delay could prove to be very deadly. We are dedicated not only to giving domestic violence victims a greater chance of becoming survivors but to also give them the peace of mind that their pets are in very capable, loving and caring hands. And at any time they are more than welcome to visit and play with their pets.

We expect to continue to grow in quality and variety of services offered. Our desire is for the sanctuary to become so robust that current personnel will consider their positions as long term job opportunities and others will be seeking employment with us. If we meet our objectives we will consider acquisition of other properties as a means of expansion.

Our Mission is:To rescue, shelter and rehabilitate abandoned and abused animals focusing on pets who are also victims of abuse associated with domestic violence andto help promote and educate the importance of spay and neutering of animals.

Our Goal is: To attract small or large donations to allow for improvements and to help maintain the high quality of care that we will provide toall that are housed at our facility; and also to be recognizedpublicly and professionally as one of the top animal sanctuaries in the state.

That is why we need Your Help. If you know of any animal in need or would like to make a Donation of any kind.
