Request for Funds:
a.Folly Green Team: $1,000
Nancy Smith from the Folly Beach Green Team is requesting funds for the purpose and benefit of the community and its residents. Ms. Smith explained what the mission of Folly Green Team is and shared various projects the team has implemented/installed on Folly. She explained she is coming before the board due to budget cuts.
Ms. Riggs: Why did the City cut funding?
Ms. Smith: To become self-sufficient.
Ms. Riggs: CPF gave the original seed money of $1000, correct?
Ms. Smith: Yes.
Dr. Randall: How many members?
Ms. Smith: 5-6 regularly working as group, mailing and various volunteers is 60.
Mr. Rutledge: Are you a 501c3?
Ms. Smith: No.
Ms. Riggs: Do you have other funding?
Ms. Smith? No.
Ms. Richards: What is Keep Charleston Beautiful and Surf Rider’s doing to assist?
Ms. Smith: To my knowledge KCB is not involved and Surf Rider’s help has been less frequent due to their budget cuts.
Mr. Sypolt: What will you use the money for?
Ms. Smith: Basic supplies such as buckets, gloves, graffiti wipes, screws, drill.
Motion to approve appropriateness of the request was made by Riggs, seconded by Richards and carried unanimous.
Motion to amend the amount to $1000 and approve the amount of $1000 was made by Riggs, seconded by Richards and carried unanimous.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
