Reports:
a) Y Lunches Together – there has been a change in focus with the group planning to involve people from Auchmuty who come for meals to be part of the process of preparation and presentation of the lunches.
b) Fresh Expressions – Alan Kimmitt updated that the plans for the Community Hub in the Kingdom Centre are on hold at the moment because Glenrothes Baptist church is planning to move into Unicorn House. There may be scope for working together with them and this is to be explored.
c) Email addresses for Carolann Erskine of Markinch and Thornton and David Robertson of Salvation Army will be added to the mailing list for Churches Together.
AOCB:
- A volunteer is required to chair the next meeting as George will be on holiday.
- Secretary Posts – we still require a secretary.
- The banner is now at St Columba’s
- It was noted that Oskar Forbes, the new GROW worker, is in post and is currently visiting children and youth groups within the churches and schools in the town. Eileen is now a Trustee for GROW.
- Alan raised the matter of the God Question which is material which grapples with the big questions of Science and Religion. It was raised at a previous meeting and not followed up. It was noted that Anne Rennie had attended Grasping the Nettle conference and she has purchased the material. Last year St Margaret's ran 6 evening sessions on the God Question. It is to be decided whether this is a project that Churches Together would like to initiate for the town. It may be possible to involve the schools. You can view the God Question resources here
- Fresh Expressions are exploring the possibilities of partnering with Glenrothes Baptist who are planning to use some space in Unicorn House.
- A Service of Unity is being planned for 6:30 on Sunday 22nd Jan 2017 at St Paul's. The selected planning team are meeting on 22nd Nov 2016.
- Puppet Ministry Training Day. This is to be held in St Margaret's on Saturday 26th November 10-4pm. Cost £15. More information from Eileen Miller (752241)
- Joy Allan generously offered to lend a set of paintings that she bought to any of the other churches in the town. Joy used some of these paintings to aid reflection and prayer at the Lent Study group in St Margaret's this year.
- Twiddle Muffs. Wilma Hanlon brought knitted twiddle muffs to show members what an inter-church group of friends are making and donating to Care Homes, hospitals and Age Concern. These are particularly helpful to those with dementia. Wilma appealed for donations of wool, buttons and small items that can be sewn on. Wilma can be contacted on 754688.
- Trinity Garden Party to celebrate 60th anniversary was very successful and noted by many people. The exhibition has also been well attended including organised visits by the local primary school. There is a film night planned on 28th Oct. An afternoon of entertainment will be led by Civil Folk on 18th Nov.
- St Columba's Autumn Fayre will be held on 29 October at 1pm.
- Val McDermaid is coming to Christ's Kirk on 24th November, tickets £10, selling quickly.
