Alberni Valley Christian Reformed Church

Our Vision Statement

Our ministry exists to reach people, bringing them to a loving relationship with Jesus

and membership in the Christian Community; helping them to grow in their faith,

guiding them to serve in their gifted ministry, and honouring God with their lives.

Response

Welcome Visitors!

There is a well equipped nursery available for your babies and young children located in the smaller building next door. There is a quiet room for nap times and for changing your little one, as well as kitchen facilities.

Sunday School is provided for children Age 3 - Grade 5. The children will be dismissed to Sunday School during the Worship Service.

Please Keep These Matters in your Prayers:

-  Synod, the annual general meeting of the CRC, began on Friday and runs through the rest of this week. Pray that delegates will listen carefully for Jesus leading his church through Scripture, through the conversations and by the Holy Spirit. One agenda item that is getting much attention is pastoral care in matters of same sex marriage. Pray that truth and grace will be present in proper measures.

-  Continue to pray for Jake Leyenaar and Gary deVries. Pray also for a man named Brian (I promised that our church would pray for him as goes through cancer treatment).

Ridder Report

Have a look at the bulletin board downstairs for a big picture sketch of the Ridder Church Renewal Process. It's about becoming and helping others to become fully devoted, mature followers of Jesus.

We do not have a program to impose. We do not have a curriculum to teach. But the Ridder team does have stories to tell about what we are learning about authenticity and integrity.

We are learning about how to respond in a loving and God-honoring way to anxiety. We are learning how authentic community, reflective lifestyle and radical obedience are essential parts of a mature, fully devoted life.

Digging Deep: BC Leadership Development Network 2016-2017

Are you a life-long learner who desires to become increasingly effectual in ministry leadership?

The BC LDN offers a three-year program of Reformed theological training for any and all leaders in the CRC, eagerly welcoming new participants to our conversation table each September. Perhaps you - elder, deacon, children’s ministry leader, worship leader, administrator etc. with an interest in God’s word and God’s mission - would like to join our conversation…

The goal of BC LDN is to discover, develop and deploy leaders for ministry, according to their gifts and calling.

We meet Saturdays, once/month from September to May, with preparation and assignments between sessions. Deadline for applications is September 1, 2016.

For more information, check out our website at bcldn.ca or contact our administrator, Marion Van Driel at /604-802-2528.

Bethesda’s “Lend a Hand” campaign is underway; we invite you to partner with us in this ministry. Your gift will help to offer families in-home support, funding assistance with special equipment and respite care, summer camp programs, housing and much more.

Membership fees are $5.00 per person ( $10.00 per couple ).

All membership fees and donations are tax deductible.

Your Church Coordinator, Margrit DeJong has placed a donation envelope and reply form in your mail box. If you have any questions please contact Margrit at 250-724-0886. You can give your donation directly to Margrit or give it with the offering and the Deacons will pass it on to her. Thankyou!

Its time once again for Tag Day for the Bread of Life…

Just as in other years, we need your help. This year the dates are Friday June 24th and Saturday 25th. See John de Jong to sign up. Thank you for your support!

Sunday School 'Bee Project' Tithe: Did You Know? ...

Bees are busy and so it makes sense that they get thirsty! Fact is - bees are crash landers. Open water like a creek, pond, and even a bird bath means bees risk drowning.

You can help by making a 'Bee Bath' for your Bee Friendly Garden. Simply have some water source - like a Bird Bath - and leave some stones sticking out of the water. Then the bees have something to land on - the stones - and they can sip water from the edge of the stone.

The Sunday School children will be tithing to a 'Bee Project' until the end of the Sunday School year. A Beehive, a Bee Smoker, and Protective Gear for the Beekeepers is what World Renew would like for farmers in Tanzania and Uganda. $126.00 is needed for one complete combination ... for one 'Bee Project'. The congregation are again invited to help the Sunday School children with their newest project. Donations can be left in the 'Honey Pot' at the front of the church. Thank-you!

Summer Sunday School ... will run on Sunday mornings throughout the Summer. We are planning on giving the teachers a break and asking others in the Congregation to consider signing up for a week. Bring your own craft, story, DVD, activity ... whatever you like ... to keep the children busy for approximately 45 minutes. Please let Anita or Mitzie know if you can take a week to 'hang out' with our little people! Thanks so much.
