“Choose Ye This Day…”

“U.S. Constitution provides same-sex couples the right to marry…” (06/26/15)

With all of my heart I believe that there is a standard of right and wrong that is established by the Word of God. However each individual has the freedom to reject that standard if they so choose. I do not believe for a moment that anyone should be forced to follow God’s Word if they chose not to. That being said God’s Word is still the ultimate authority in all of our lives regardless of our acceptance of it. There are and will be consequences both in this life and in eternity if we fail to obey it. Homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:18-32, 1st Corinthians 6:9-11, 1st Timothy 1:8-10 etc…) it always has been and always will be regardless of what the Supreme Court has deemed as legal. The same is true in regards to adultery. Adultery is a sin (Matthew 5:32, Matthew 19:9, Hebrews 13:4 etc…) yet our government has slowly digressed throughout the years in regards to divorce particularly when the no fault divorce was enacted. Jesus clearly taught in Matthew 19:9 that if a man divorces His wife and marries another he commits adultery unless that divorce is for the cause of fornication; now, one may divorce and re-marry for any reason. Be that as it may God’s law has not changed therefore it’s still sin. Regardless of what law we chose to govern our lives by whether it be individually or collectively God’s law is firmly established and unchanging. We can choose to shape and mold our lives by it or not; that's a decision that God has given us. Despite the Supreme Court’s decision in regards to same-sex marriage it does not change whose law I'm going to obey no more than the law that allows divorce for any cause dictate whose law I chose to obey. The problem isn't the laws that our government are passing; those are merely the symptoms of the disease. The true problem lies within the hearts of the individual citizens who make up our country. When the laws that we as individuals are passing and following in our personal lives contradict God’s Word we should not be surprised when collectively as a nation we pass and embrace laws that contradict God’s Word. Unless the hearts of individuals embrace God and His Word, collectively we are doomed. The sad truth is the majority will not, just read the Bible. The majority will ultimately fail in regards to their eternal fate. Matthew 7:13 Enter ye in at

the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth

to destruction, and many there be which go in there at: 14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The good news is, that just as each individual has the freedom to reject God’s standard, we likewise have the freedom to accept it which means we can find the way that leads unto life.

Joshua 24:15 If it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

I choose to accept God’s standard; as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD!
