The Interlake-Eastern Regional Health Authority (IERHA) and the Department of Clinical Health Psychology in the College of Medicine of the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Manitoba invite applications for a Contingent Geographic Full-Time Clinical Psychologist at the Assistant Professor level (position # 19564), commencing February 1, 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Interlake-Eastern RHA is an area of 61,000 square kilometers, to the north and east of the City of Winnipeg. The region’s population is 124,000 including 17 First Nation Communities representing 22% of the population. The region includes 10 hospitals, 16 long-term care sites, 6 primary care centres and 1 quick care clinic. For more information about the region and its health services, visit www.ierha.ca

The successful applicant will be appointed to the medical staff of the IERHA and will provide a range of psychological services at a number of rural sites, including:

·  Consultation to health and mental health programs and staff across the region

·  Psychological assessment of children, adolescents, adults and seniors

·  Leadership and professional support to ongoing community mental health programs such as the dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) service

·  Program development, including group and community-based prevention programs.

·  A limited amount of direct patient treatment, in specialized cases

·  Supervision of psychology residents in the Rural Stream of our CPA accredited residency training program

·  Clinical teaching of students in the health professions and continuing professional education of health professionals in facilities and in the community.

·  Applied clinical research and program evaluation.

Qualifications:

·  Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from a CPA accredited clinical psychology training programme and completion

of a CPA accredited internship / residency.

·  Eligibility for registration as a Psychologist (C. Psych) by the Psychological Association of Manitoba www.cpmb.ca

·  Pass pre-employment criminal records, child abuse and vulnerable persons checks.

·  Excellent inter-personal and inter-professional communications and teamwork skills

·  Ability to provide mentorship for treatment modalities in a team approach

·  Training, experience and/or research in a community mental health and primary care setting would be an asset

·  Training, experience, and/or research background and interests in Aboriginal health issues would be an asset.

·  A vehicle and valid driver’s license are essential for this position, given the requirement for consultation in rural areas.

·  The Department of Clinical Health Psychology will provide the required clinical supervision for individuals at the C. Psych Candidate level to become registered as C. Psych, and consultation thereafter.
