I noticed the reference to Polyporus Pinicola in the box entitled "Picture of this second" and would like to record my experience with this remedy I first used about 3 years ago when Chikungunya (CKG) was an epidemic here in Sri Lanka.
I used the 200c potency in the Wet dose and observed that many patients were cured on the third day after taking this remedy.
I am copying a post I made on September 7 2007 where I gave a case history of this disease which affected my wife at which time I did not have the Polyporus Pinicola which I was able to get a few weeks later.

I would like to record my experience in the treatment of Chikun Gunya (CKG) which was first reported in Sri Lanka and which my wife contacted. This is a record of my experience in the treatment of this dread disease at first hand, first in the case of my wife and later in the case of over 50 patients all of whom were resident in the vicinity of my residence in Colombo where CKG seemed to be spreading from door to door at an alarming rate up to last April.
The disease started in the case of my wife with an acute pain on her heel which she complained of late in the evening of November 16 2006 and which I investigated carefully to ascertain if there was some wound which was causing the pain. There was however no reason for this pain and she went to bed early and around 3.00AM she woke up as she had a rigor with violent shivering and a temperature of around 103F. She took 2 Paracetemol tablets and by morning she was in a bad way with the temperature rising higher and 104F was recorded when an ice bag was used. Her temperature was not responding to Paracetemol and I gave her Oscillococcinum 200 in the wet dose every 3 hours and this seemed to be more effective as the temperature dropped within about 3 hours and stabilized by mid-day.
She complained of acute pain in all her joints and her Arthritis which I had treated successfully earlier had returned with full force and she was unable to leave her bed without assistance. She did not have any appetite and I persuaded her to sip liquids both warm and cold and she complained of an awful bitter taste in her mouth. I used Hypericum 200 for the pain in her body and Rhus Tox 1M which I had used successfully earlier for her Arthritis, all in the wet dose.
On the third day there was perceptible swelling of her legs and her ankles which was alarming to behold and I gave her Apis 6 in the wet dose and to my surprise this remedy reduced the swelling in about 6 hours. I also used it to help reduce the swelling of many other patient's limbs and they all reported positive results. Apis 6 is taken thrice daily.
Her condition deteriorated for a week during which time she had to be helped out of bed as her whole body ached and her joints were very painful. Her temperature stabilized within about 4 days and she had lost her appetite. She was not able to climb down the stairs and was confined to the upper floor.
Since there was every possibility of my contacting her disease I decided to use the only anti viral remedy that I had used successfully to prevent colds and used Gelsemium 30 in the wet dose twice daily. I am happy to record that this remedy protected me from contacting this dread disease which at my advanced age of 78 would have set me back many years. It was also helpful in preventing the members of over 25 households with known CKG patients to be protected from contacting this disease. I have no doubt that Gelsemium 30 prevents this virus from infecting others in the same household as it was impossible to prevent mosquitos biting me and others and thereby spreading the virus.
I had ordered Polyporus Pinicola (PP) which my Homeopathic colleagues in India recommended and had used successfully for CKG patients and received this remedy in the third week after my wife was infected. I then changed her medication over to PP 6 in the wet dose and she responded quickly to this remedy which was obviously more effective in treating CKG than the other remedies that I was using.
My wife was back to normal in a month although she had to be on the medication which comprised the following remedies for many months :
Arnica 30 Dose 1 teaspoonful twice daily
Polyporus Pinicola 6 Dose 1teaspoonful thrice daily
The acute pains that characterize this disease left her in a month but the chronic phase of this disease continued for about 6 months when she complained of pains which occurred in various parts of her extremities like pin prick like pain in her toes and in her fingers which did not show any outward signs of any injury but which her nervous system conveyed to her brain as being real. This phenomenon is unknown as far as I am aware in other diseases where the patient is cured in a given time and does not suffer from any residual after pain. This after pain has been reported by other patients whom I have treated for CKG. Occasional swelling of the ankles was noticed and her Arthritis bothered her from time to time. Today over 10 months after she was first infected, she still seems to suffer from the after effects of CKG and this is true of other patients that I have treated.
I would like to record that the remedy Polyporus Pinicola which I received 3 weeks after my wife was first infected with CKG was discovered to be far more effective for the treatment of this disease, judging by the response of patients to this remedy which in some cases was dramatic. I used it in the 200c potency for patients who presented within a week after they were infected when they are in the acute stage of this disease. I used the 6c potency for others who presented later with the chronic symptoms and found that this was more suitable to reduce the swelling and the joint pains. The 200c showed dramatic results as patients who were barely able to walk who had caught the disease a few days prior were able to resume their normal life within 48 hours of their being treated with the 200c.
It is my hope that the patients who suffer from this dread disease in Ravenna and Cervia in North Italy will see this post and use Polyporus Pinicola in the manner that I have detailed above. Those affected would have already discovered that the drugs which they would already have been prescribed would not have helped them as drugs like Steroids and Antibiotics which are used by the majority of doctors have no positive effect and in some cases have even made a bad situation far worse especially in the case of liberal usage of steroids to treat CKG. Analgesics would have helped to control the pain and fever but this too would only have been effective in the short term as they do not offer a cure. Rest is essential and food must be taken as soon as the appetite returns. The intake of liquids is paramount in spite of the aversion to them that patients will experience.
For the benefit of those who are not familiar with the Wet Dose which I have referred to above I would like to repeat the instructions on how this is made. I have observed that the wet dose is best made with the remedy in the original Ethanol format instead of with the pellets already activated with the remedy.
2 drops of the remedy in Ethanol or 3-4 pellets of the remedy are inserted into a 500ml bottle of spring water which is shaken hard in the hand with a twisting motion to produce bubbling and aeration of the water. If no bubbles are noticed this is due to insufficient air space at the top of the bottle and an inch of water is poured out when it will bubble when shaken. This bubbling and aeration is Homeopathic Succussion and this must be done every time before each dose which is a teaspoonful is sipped slowly to enable the remedy to be absorbed into the body through the mucous membranes in the mouth.
I would welcome information from members both Homeopaths and patients who have either treated or suffered from this dread disease as this information will be very valuable in the treatment of CKG with Homeopathy. It is accepted that modern medicine has not discovered up to date, any specific drug or vaccine to treat this dread disease, the likes of which have never been experienced throughout the world up to about 2 years ago.
Mosquito virus arrives in Europe
A debilitating tropical virus carried by mosquitoes has become established in Europe for the first time. The virus is transmitted by the mosquito Aedes albopictus
The Ministry of Health in Italy has confirmed about 160 cases of chikungunya in the Ravenna region in northern Italy.
Travellers have been advised to protect themselves against mosquito bites.
The European Centre for Disease Control urged pregnant women and those with chronic illnesses to seek medical advice before visiting the area.
The villages of Castiglione di Ravenna and Castiglione di Cervia have reported most of the cases.
The main symptoms of the patients were high fever and joint pain, as well as headache, muscle pain, rash and less frequently gastrointestinal symptoms.
One death was reported in a 83-year old individual with underlying medical conditions.
World first
Professor Antoine Flahault, who coordinates French research on chikungunya, said the Italian outbreak was a "world first" outside the tropics.
Writing in the Quotidien du Medecin journal, he said the extension of the virus beyond its Indian Ocean origins was "worrying without being alarming".
He suggested that the very high density of mosquitoes in and around Ravenna had fuelled the outbreak.
"The mosquito vectors (carriers) of this disease have been in Italy for several years. All we know is that increased temperatures and humidity make the climate more tropical and favour the proliferation of mosquitoes," he said.
The virologist said the situation in Ravenna was under control and measures had been taken to reduce the number of mosquitoes.
Chikungunya gets its name from a Swahili word meaning "that which bends up" because of the arthritic-type symptoms that leave victims stooped.
Symptoms usually appear between four to seven days after being bitten and can persist for several weeks.
There is no vaccine against chikungunya.

Respected Joe,
Great information has been furnished by you. I just want to add one or two in this line. Polyporus Pinicola and Polyporus officianalis are used in Tamilnadu, India. Both seem to be equally powerful. One thing left out in your summary is Eupotorium Perf. This seems to be highly efficient as far as CKG is concerned. These have been used and hundreds of patients have been treated in Chennai.
