CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JERRY R. ROGERS

Chief Master Sergeant Jerry R. Rogers is the Quality Assurance Superintendent of the, 940th Maintenance Group, 940th Air Refueling Wing, Beale Air Force Base,Calif. He serves as an aircraft maintenance technical advisor to the Group Commander. He provides valuable input on issues concerning aircraft and personnel safety, improvement of the quality of aircraft maintenance, and assists the Safety of Flight office with aircraft accident investigations. His office is also responsible for the daily insurance of the strict compliance of Air Force Technical orders. In addition, Chief Rogers’ office is responsible for 13 critical aircraft programs ranging from Safety, Aircraft Functional Check Flight, FOD prevention, Aircraft Impoundment program, and Aircraft Weight/Balance. He supervises a team of seven dedicated inspectors who assist in the accomplishment of the maintenance mission.

Chief Rogers has been in the armed services for more than 25 years.He entered the US Navy in June 1975 and completed technical training as a Jet Engine Technician,Naval Air Station, (NAS) Millington, Tenn. He has served as a Plane Captain on the A-4 Sky hawk, NAS Kingsville TX, and as jet propulsion mechanic on F-4 Phantoms, VF-154 NAS Miramar, CA. Deploying in 1979 for a Western Pacific Cruise on board the USS Ranger, CV-61. He was discharged from the US Navy in July 1979.

In 1989, after a 10 year break in service, he joined the 940th ARW as a traditional reservist and was assigned as an Assistant Crew Chief on the KC-135 Stratotanker. His civilian career was with the SacramentoAirLogisticsCenter, ALC, as an aircraft mechanic on A-10, F-4, F-111, and KC-135 aircraft. In 1997 Chief Rogers left the ALC and became an Air Reserve Technician with the 940th Maintenance Group, serving as an aircraft Crew Chief. His deployments during this time included, Operations, Desert Shield, Desert Strom, Enduring Freedom, Restore Hope, Deny Flight, Northern and Southern Watch, Noble Eagle and Operation Enduring/ Iraqi Freedom. He has participated in every major deployment sense, Operation Desert Shield to Operation Noble Eagle. In 1999 he accepted a position in the Quality Assurance Office, as an aircraft maintenance inspector. He was appointed to his current position as the 940th Quality Assurance Superintendent in September 2004.
