Night Project Worker

1. Job Title: Night Project Worker

2. Reports to: Hostels Manager

3. Place of Work: Bognor Night Hostel

4.  Job Purpose.

To assist with the provision of a comprehensive seamless service offering advice and support to a client group who have homelessness, mental health and substance misuse problems. This will involve responding to issues, which can be common to people who are ex-offenders, homeless, unemployed or in some way socially disadvantaged.

5.  Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

a)  Actively to seek to empower the service users to gain and maintain control over their individual problems.

b)  To supervise and respond to the needs & safety of the Service users and volunteers.

c)  Health and Safety and the Security of the service users/premises.

d)  To maintain clear and accurate records of support and night events within the service ensuring confidentiality.

e)  To recognise the individual’s strengths, abilities and skills and seek to encourage their development and use.

f)  To offer practical advice and assistance on issues such as welfare benefits, budgeting, life skills, employment, training and move-on.

g)  To operate within clear professional and confidential boundaries.

h)  To develop a knowledge and implement good practice within the Supporting People framework and statutory requirements.

i)  To implement and contribute to the development and review of local policies and procedures.

j)  To promote house rules ensuring compliance by service users.

k)  To confront service users when applicable and safe to do so, on their actions/ behaviour affecting the well being or stability of the project, other service users, staff or visitors. Following procedure where there involves a risk of physical harm to yourself or others.

6.  Other requirements;

a)  To carry out any cleaning tasks as per schedule and ensure acceptable standards of hygiene are maintained on the project.

b)  To deal with any first aid issues.

c)  To ensure that all areas excluded from client use are kept locked at all times.

d)  To ensure all emergency exits are kept clear.

e)  To record and handover any property defects that you may encounter.

f)  To attend staff meetings

g)  To accurately record Housing Benefit and other statutory forms and information.

h)  To use a computer to record information and write required letters for the service or individuals.

i)  To develop an understanding and knowledge of the Association and the variety of services provided.

j)  To undertake any other duties as directed by the line manager that may reasonably fall within the scope of the post.

7.  Communications and working relationships

To be a good team player and work constructively with colleagues and managers in all aspects of the post holders work. Contribute positively to meetings such as supervision, appraisal and team meetings and training events.

To maintain a professional approach to all communications with external agencies and visitors.

8.  Health and Safety

To ensure the health, safety and security of staff, students, service users, volunteers and members of the public on the premises in all locations in line with the project’s procedures.

9.  Confidentiality

This policy covers all Stonepillow employees and volunteers, all

of whom will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement. Anyone working for Stonepillow who breaches the agreement will be liable to disciplinary action under the Staff Disciplinary Procedure.

10.  Other

To undertake such other reasonable duties as may be required in the interest of Stonepillow.
