Chemistry I Syllabus

Course Description: This is a mathematics based physical science course which is college preparatory in nature. Students should have successfully completed Algebra I (“C” or better). Lab work will accompany studied topics.

Make-up work:

Students are responsible for getting their missed work as soon as they return to class.

Late work:

Late work is not accepted. Papers are considered late if not handed in when they are requested.

Test make-up:

When absent the DAY of the test, the student will have one week to make it up (before or after school). It is the student’s responsibility to schedule the test make-up.

Class rules:

·  Students are held to the rules set out in the MHS student handbook.

·  Students are tardy unless they are in their seats when the bell rings. Detention will be assigned after the third tardy, sixth tardy, and every third tardy thereafter.

·  Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated! Disruptive behavior is any action that stops the learning process. Discipline will be handled on an individual basis.

·  Students will not be disrespectful to the teacher or to each other.

·  Food, Drink, and Electronic Devices are at the teacher’s discretion.

Evaluation:

·  Daily Work – 40%

·  Tests – 60%

Semester Tests are cumulative.
