Preparation / Think about the key priorities for your area and how you are able to best contribute to the achievement of these.
Familiarise yourself with the University and School priorities including any operational plans which have been submitted
Think about what development you might like to be supported in over the next 12 months
Setting objectives / Divided into: Learning and Teaching; Research; Engagement/Enterprise & Management
Should have between 4-8 objectives including the ‘Standard Objective’
These should be weighted according to the role you are undertaking eg Senior Lecturer should have a balance towards all 3, Lecturer should normally be more weighted to Learning & Teaching
Objectives should be SMART
The Objectives Guidance document should be used to assist in this.
Complete Part A and Part B of the PDR form with your reviewer
Mid-Point Review / Ensure this meeting takes place with your reviewer to review progress against objectives and any developmental activities which have been undertaken
Close any completed objectives
Change/adjust objectives if required due to business requirements
Provide clear & evidenced feedback both positive and developmental on how you think things have gone so far – and ask for further feedback from your reviewer or other key colleagues
Complete the signatures in Part D
End of Year / Ensure this meeting takes place with your reviewer to review completion of objectives and any developmental activities which have been undertaken.
Provide clear & evidenced feedback both positive and developmental on the work completed this year – and ask for further feedback from your reviewer or other key colleagues
Complete Part C – by adding your comments on the summary of your overall performance
Complete the signatures in Part D
Confirmation / Receive confirmation of your end of year rating from your line manager once calibration meetings have been held

Consider any objectives which will apply to all staff in your areas
Consider any key project work that needs to be undertaken
Understand the KPI’s
Review of workload balancing model allocation & any additional roles that individual is undertaking eg Personal Tutor
