4.Inspect system valves for the following:
- Alignment
- Valve locking devices in place and operational
- Valve tamper seals in place
- Inspect valves, flanges, unions, couplings, and packing glands for proper alignment, leakage, ferrous fasteners and presence of paint on surfaces / Ref (a) D-1

5.Inspect all activation points for the following:
- Push buttons labeled
- Push buttons classified

6.Inspect photoluminescent markings at all activation points for the following:

- Photoluminescent markings undamaged / Ref (c)
7.Inspect warning signs for the following:
- Hearing protection warning signs posted in AFFF pump area
- 440 volt warning signs posted on SOPV’s / Ref (l)
8.Inspect deck drains for the following:
- Deck drains labeled
- Deck drains operational
- Deck drains classified IAW ships DC Book
- Deck drain screws in place
- Deck drain tee wrenches in place
- If installed, deck drain remote operating gear (ROG) operational / Refs (c), (i)
9.Inspect tank level & indicator for the following:
- Tank 95 percent full
- Tank level indicator guard in place (if required)
- Tank level indicator operational
- Remote tank level indicator operational (if installed)
- Drain valve does not leak
- Drain valve locking device in place/intact
- Tank level indicator valve handwheels operational (if installed) / Refs (b), (c), (d), (h)
10. Inspect gages for the following:
- Gage(s) operational
- Gage(s) calibrated
- Gage(s) mounted
- Inspect gage(s) for leaks
- Gage(s) COV (Hoke) operational / Refs (b), (k)
11. Visually inspect all SOPV ‘s for the following:
- Telltale leakage
- Water leaking in to the electrical box
- Labeled according to function
- Excess wiring
- Classification
- Non-ferrous plug in the base plate
- Missing screws in the base plate
- Leaks
- 440 volts placard
- Corrosion
- Dirt and debris inside the electrical box / Ref (a) Q-1

12. Inspect / Test Stations ABT
a. Inspect ABT for the following:
- Properly labeled
- Damage
- Power available light illuminated
- Control switch intact / Ref (j)
b. Test ABT with AFFF Pump operating
- Shift from primary power to alternate power in manual mode
- Pump continued to run when shifted to alternate power
- ABT shifted from alternate power to primary power when shifted to auto mode
- Power available light illuminated / Ref (b)
13. Inspect and test AFFF pump for the following: (Place pump in recirc, concentrate discharge valve closed, and operate pump locally)
- Manually cycle the master SOPV T-Handle and verify the concentrate pump starts IAW the NAVSEA Standard installation DWG (If pump does not start, manually start the pump at the controller)
- Excessive vibrations
- Foundation preservation
- Leaks from pump mechanical seal
- Coupling intact
- Drive belt intact, not loose/worn or damaged
- Discharge pressure @ ______PSI
- Rotation in proper direction / Ref (a) M-1
14. Inspect and test pump relief valve for the following:
(220 to 230 BPPS with POWERTROL service valves). (210-220 with HYTROL service valves.) (Do not exceed 300 psi pump discharge pressure when testing)
- Valve set IAW PMS
- Leaks
- Valve was tagged with setting and date / Ref (a) Q-2
15. Verify proper AFFF concentrate manufacturer
AFFF Concentrate from BUCKEYE corporation is not permitted. Permitted list includes 3M, ANSUL, CHEMGUARD and KIDDE products. / Ref (f)
16. Inspect last concentration analysis within PMS standards
- Last concentration analysis IAW PMS and within periodicity / Ref (a) R-7M
17. Perform concentration analysis test (High and low demand off of each station)
a. Perform low demand test and inspect for the following: (From a hose nozzle. Note: Ensure the correct size nozzle is used)
- Line pressure gage calibration
- Foam discharge for 1 minute
- Line gage pressure IAW PMS, (>90 psi for a 95 GPM nozzle / 52 psi for a 125 GPM nozzle)
- AFFF concentration within PMS requirements
- Quantab Chloride titrator strips within shelf life expiration / Ref (a) R-7M

b. Inspect all sprinkler nozzles discharge for the following:
- Clogged nozzles
- Obstructed nozzles
- Ruptured piping
c. Inspect service SOPV’s for the following:
- Telltale leakage
- Water leaking in to the electrical box
- Labeled according to function
- Excess wiring
- Classification
- Non-ferrous plug in the base plate
- Missing screws in the base plate
- Leaks
- 440 volts placard
- Corrosion
- Dirt and debris inside the electrical box / Ref (a) Q-1

2. Inspect hose reel COV’s for the following:
- Sealed open (for Gate Valves only)
- ¼ Turn Quick Closing Ball Valves, sealed closed or open at the option of the ship and shall be consistent throughout the ship / Refs (a,b),
3. Inspect nozzles
a. Inspect 1.5 inch nozzles for the following:
- 125 GPM rating for weatherdeck nozzles, 95 GPM rating for interior nozzles
- Nozzle operational
- Nozzle clogged
- Nozzle rotates to the “flush” position
- Nozzle cycles through all positions / Ref (a) Q-10R/A-10R

4. Inspect anti-crimp strap for the following:
- Strap is installed
- Strap is tight / Ref (g)
5. Inspect hose for the following:
- Within hydrostatic test periodicity
- Hose undamaged
- Hose shape IAW PMS / Ref (a) A-9R, 36M-1
6. Test hose reel
a. Test hose reel push button for the following: (Do not keep on/off pushbutton depressed for more than 3 seconds)
- Push button activated associated AFFF pump station - Hose reel SOPV activation (if installed) / Ref (a) Q-2, R-6A
b. Inspect hose reel for the following:
- COV operational
- COV leaks
- Swivel joint leaks
- Hose leaks at swivel joint.
- Adequate hose length to reach the next hose reel or adequate re-entry hose reel length to reach the furthest corner of the space / Ref (a) Q-2, R-6A
