PurposeThis unit standard is for Department of Internal Affairs VIP Transport Service chauffeurs.
People credited with this unit standard are able to demonstrate knowledge of motorcade procedures, and demonstrate motorcade driving as a chauffeur.

Special notes
1Training and assessment is in relation to Diplomatic Protection Squad (DPS) requirements as approved by the New Zealand Police.
2Legislation and other requirements to be complied with include:
Diplomatic Protection Squad requirements;
Land Transport Act 1998;
Land Transport (Road User) Rule 2004.
3Any new, amended, or replacement Acts, regulations, Rules, standards, codes of practice, or Land Transport New Zealand requirements or conditions affecting this unit standard will take precedence for assessment purposes, pending review of this unit standard.
4Competency for this unit standard may be demonstrated in on-job or in a simulated situation that closely reflects on-job requirements. Motorcade must be in accordance with the DPS requirements.
5Organisational requirements refer to the procedures and/or standards for chauffeurs employed by the Department of Internal Affairs VIP Transport Service.
DPS requirements are Diplomatic Protection Squad requirements.
Elements and performance criteria
Element 1
Demonstrate knowledge of motorcade procedures.
Performance criteria
1.1Vehicle descriptions and occupant compositions for facilitated and non-facilitated motorcades are explained in terms of DPS and organisational requirements.
1.2Prime Minister motorcade procedures are described in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
1.3State and high security visit motorcade procedures are described in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
1.4Visiting trade and foreign minister motorcade procedures are described in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
1.5Routine motorcade formations are described in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
1.6Emergency procedures are described in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
Element 2
Demonstrate motorcade driving as a chauffeur.
Performance criteria
2.1Routine motorcade driving in all formations is demonstrated in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
2.2Emergency procedures are demonstrated in accordance with DPS and organisational requirements.
Please note
Providers must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority, or an inter-institutional body with delegated authority for quality assurance, before they can report credits from assessment against unit standards or deliver courses of study leading to that assessment.
Industry Training Organisations must be accredited by the Qualifications Authority before they can register credits from assessment against unit standards.
Accredited providers and Industry Training Organisations assessing against unit standards must engage with the moderation system that applies to those standards.
