Chat Time 19 Cultural Activities in Hong Kong

Hong Kong has been described as a ‘cultural desert’ for a long time now. I, however, do not think that Hong Kong deserves this description. First, many artistic activities take place here. Secondly, it is possible to earn a living in the arts field. Thirdly, the Hong Kong government provides financial support to artists’ development.
Some people believe that Hong Kong is a ‘cultural desert’. Hong Kong people usually have long working hours, and therefore no time to take part in cultural activities. Many people are not interested in arts which does not lead to financial reward. Indeed, there are not enough facilities for all types of art to develop, and government funding is too limited to encourage people to express themselves artistically.
The government should allocate more public spaces for artistic performances or exhibitions. The government should also allow street performances which would assist in Hong Kong’s cultural development.
