22nd September 2009 / World Car Free day / Every year road closures & other events in towns and cities across the world, including London
1-31st October 2009 / International Walk to School Month / Parents and pupils are encouraged to walk to school to reduce their dependency on the car and improve levels of health and fitness /
11th October 2009 / Seed Gathering Sunday / Day designated to collect seeds for the growing of new trees in the future / National Tree Council
14th October 2009 / International Day for Natural Disaster Reduction / To promote a global culture of national disaster reduction including disaster prevention, mitigation and preparedness
12-18th October 2009 / THE BIG SWITCH OFF – Leicestershire wide!! / The Big Switch Off is a campaign encouraging households, businesses, schools and community organisations across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland to switch off all unnecessary electrical appliances and lighting.
