2nd Grade

Dear Families,
Hello! Our school year has gotten off to a quick but great start! We are finally getting in to our normal routine and your children are adjusting well! I am so excited to be working with your children this year and am anxious to get know all of them better! I am so thankful and feel so blessed the Lord led me here, and I know He is going to do special and wonderful things in your children’s lives! Thank you for trusting me with your little blessings! Keep reading for some info on some of the exciting and special things happening in 2nd grade!

Flat Stanley

One of the chapter books we read as a class was Flat Stanley, the story of a little boy who literally becomes flat! His parents mail him all over the world so he can see exciting things. The children LOVED the story, so we decided to make our own Flat Stanley…which snowballed into 100 of them! We have over 40 Stanley cutouts already claimed across the world! We are mailing out Stanley to 18 different states and 5 different countries…so far! I would love for us to reach as many places as possible to help us with our geography unit in Social Studies!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

As a class, we are reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It has truly been an eye opening book for your children! It has been so interesting to hear their dialogue throughout the book. They have started having those “what if” discussions if they were in the same position of poverty that Charlie’s family was in. I think it has provided a new perspective for them and has really been making them consider how blessed they are!
