Chapter 2-Stress: The Constant Challenge

  • What is stress? What is a stressor? Eustress vs. Distress.

  • What are the components of the nervous system?
  • What are the components of the endocrine system?
  • What is the organization of the nervous system and what types of activities does each branch control?
  • What are the characteristics of the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems? How are they similar or different?
  • What is homeostasis? Why is it important to return to homeostasis after a physical stress response?
