Salary:£ per hour dependent on experience

Contract:Freelance

Hours of Work:Roughly 2 days a month

  1. Purpose of the job

We are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to take responsibility for our day-to-day bookkeeping. The role is approximately 2 days a month and can be delivered from our offices in the Stokes Croft area of Bristol, or from home.

The deadline for applications is 1st April 2016 and we are looking for someone who can start as soon possible after appointment in mid April 2016.

Working closely with the Willis Newson Director, you'll be responsible for Sales and Purchase ledgers along with VAT returns, banking transfers, credit control, monitoring of expenses, payroll and liaison with Government departments such as HMRC and Companies House.
You will need to demonstrate previous accounts / bookkeeping experience with fine attention to detail and the ability to work quickly but methodically. A good working knowledge of Sage is essential.

You'll also have excellent organisational skills and enjoy managing your own workload.

  1. Main Tasks

These will vary according to the needs of the company, but will include:

Sales Ledger

  • Raise sales invoices
  • Enter invoices onto Sage
  • Credit control, checking aged debtors and chasing outstanding debts
  • Filling out new suppliers forms as required

Purchase Ledger

  • Ensure invoices are authorised by Project Managers
  • Raise purchase orders on Sage based on information from Project managers
  • Process payments
  • Mark suppliers as paid on sage

Banking

  • Be responsible for paying remittances into the bank
  • Reconcile bank account and credit account
  • Chase queries

Payroll

  • Process monthly payroll using “12 pay”
  • Pay salaries online
  • Submit HMRC details online
  • Issue Payslips from “12 pay” software

VAT

  • Check and submit VAT returns produced by sage
  • Submit online return to HMRC

New Business

  • Enter budgets on new projects
  • Set up new projects on sage
  • Plot invoices to be raised on excel spreadsheet

Year end

  • Liaise with accountant for yearend accounts

Administration

  • Filing invoices

Knowledge / Essential / Desirable
  • Excellent knowledge of Sage line 50

  • Knowledge of computer based accounting systems

Experience
  • At least two years’ experience of working as a book keeper

Qualifications / training
  • A-level, HNC/HND, NVQ 3 or equivalent OR broad vocational experience acquired through a combination of job related vocational training and considerable on-the-job training.
