ChantaTHON Steering Committee Application

ChantaTHON will be a 17-hour long dance marathon held in November to support the Children’s Miracle Network and McLeod Children’s Hospital in Florence, SC. The Steering Committee is responsible for planning every aspect of this event FOR THE KIDS!

Position Descriptions

Director: The Director of Chantathon is responsible for the overall planning and implementation of the event. They shall oversee each of the 14 positions, while working with the Executive Committee, Advisors, and other campus officials. The Director shall delegate items that are not included in Steering Committee descriptions. The Director is indirectly responsible for supporting all Chantathon events, including committee events, approving events with the assistance of the Executive Committee, running Executive Committee and Steering Committee meetings, and working with all participants involved with ChantaTHON.

Assistant Director of Internal Affairs: Responsible for overseeing all business, events, and programming that occur within the Internal Affairs Branch of ChantaTHON. Committees within this area are: Dancer Relations, Morale, and Communications. The main task of the Assistant Director is to motivate, oversee, and inspire those within their committee. And other duties as assigned.

Assistant Director of External Affairs: Responsible for overseeing all business, events, and programming that occur within the External Affairs Branch of ChantaTHON. Committees within this area are: Public Relations, Special Events, and Family Relations. The main task of the Assistant Director is to motivate, oversee, and inspire those within their committee. The Assistant Director will be responsible for coordinating site visits to other Dance Marathons and should serve as the liaison to schools that wish to visit CCU’ s ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned.

Assistant Director of Finance: Responsible for overseeing all business, events, and programming that occur within the Finance Branch of ChantaTHON. Committees within this area are: Fundraising, Finance, and Sponsorship. The main task of the Assistant Director is to motivate, oversee, and inspire those within their committee. The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining the budget, keeping up-to-date records of the ChantaTHON account, overseeing the fundraisers, and applying for funding and grants each year. And other duties as assigned.

Assistant Director of Planning: Responsible for overseeing all business, events, and programming that occur within the Planning Branch of ChantaTHON. Committees within this area are: Catering, Event Management, and Entertainment. The main task of the Assistant Director is to motive, oversee, and inspire those within their committee. And other duties as assigned.

Catering Chair: Responsible for getting all food and drinks donated and prepared for ChantaTHON. They are also responsible for assisting with all catering needs at any events leading up to ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned. Reports to Assistant Director of Planning.

Communications Chair: Will serve as a liaison between the steering committee and campus organizations by holding regular meetings with organization representatives. Responsible for maintaining the ChantaTHON email account and creating the program for ChantaTHON. Following ChantaTHON, they are responsible for sending thank you notes. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Internal Affairs.

Dancer Relations Chair: Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of the dancers during the event. They are also responsible for recruiting and preparing the dancers for ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Internal Affairs.

Entertainment Chair: Responsible for providing entertainment and activities to the dancers throughout the entire event of ChantaTHON. They are also responsible for putting together the timeline in a timely manner. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Planning.

Event Management Chair: Responsible for constructing a safe event site, overseeing maintenance and security volunteers and decorating at ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Planning.

Family Relations Chair: Works closely with McLeod Children’s Hospital, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s representative, and the Miracle Families. They are responsible for planning family events in and around Conway, keeping in contact with current and alumni families, and scheduling hospital tours for campus organizations. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of External Affairs.

Finance Chair: Responsible for receiving and properly recording all donations made to ChantaTHON by keeping records of the amounts raised by organizations and individual dancers, Moralers, core committee members, and steering members, and crediting the appropriate amounts to each total. Other responsibilities include the ChantaTHON store and other merchandise sold throughout the year and the logistics of the letter writing campaign. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Finance.

Fundraising Chair: Responsible for coordinating many large scale fundraising opportunities for anyone to participate in as well as motivating all participants in their efforts to raise funds. Also serves as a consultant to help organization or core committees create, plan, and execute their fundraiser for ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Finance.

Morale Chair: Responsible for overseeing the safety and security of the Moralers during the event. They are also responsible for recruiting and preparing the Moralers for ChantaTHON. The Morale Chair is responsible for spreading excitement and enthusiasm to the dancers throughout the year and at ChantaTHON by utilizing the Moral Core Committee to create programming for various theme hours throughout the night. Another responsibility of the Morale Chair is to create a line dance each year and teach it to all the participants at ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Internal Affairs.

Public Relations Chair: Responsible for publicizing all ChantaTHON events and ChantaTHON as a whole. They are responsible for contacting local news outlets, preparing press releases, and maintaining the ChantaTHON webpage. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of External Affairs.

Special Events Chair: Responsible for organizing special events during the year, including merchandise sales, ChantaTHON Countdown, and any other promotional events throughout the year. They are also responsible for ordering ChantaTHON shirts. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of External Affairs.

Sponsorship Chair: Responsible for soliciting donations (both monetary and in-kind) from local and regional businesses to support ChantaTHON. They will keep an accurate database of all local, regional, and corporate sponsors and the total amount of in-kind donations. Finally, they are responsible for planning the Live and Silent Auction at ChantaTHON. And other duties as assigned. Reports to the Assistant Director of Finance.
