Changes to NVC GE - Effective Fall 2013

New courses were added and archived courses were deleted

  • Area B Social & Behavioral Sciences: Added - PSYC 220; SOCI 220

Deleted – HIST 135 & 140

  • Area C Humanities: Added - MUSI 121 & 122

Deleted – ARTH 210; FILM 203

  • Area D.3 Communication & Analytical Thinking: Added - PSYC 220; SOCI 220; SPCOM 128

Deleted – THEA 150

  • Area E Multicultural/Gender Studies:Deleted – HIST 153

Changes to CSU-GE and IGETC - Effective Fall 2012(retroactive)

This is to remind you of the policy change regarding course approvals for CSU-GE and IGETC. Courses approved in April of each year are retroactive to the beginning of the previous fall term. Thus, courses that were approved for CSU-GE and IGETC in April of 2013are retroactive to the beginning of the Fall 2012 term. This required revisions to our 2012-2013 CSU-GE and IGETC sheets. The revised sheets and the new 2013-14 sheets are posted at the NVC Articulation Website.

Below are courses that were approved in April 2013 and reflected in the 2012-13 and 2013-14CSU-GE and IGETCsheets.

Addition of 56 new courses

Deletion of 48 courses

Revisions were made to 185 courses - Some of the most notable course changes are:

ADMJ 121 added prerequisite of ADMJ 120

BIOL 218 added prerequisite Engl 90 and Math 94

BIOL 219 added prerequisite Engl 90

CHEM 240 changed prerequisite from Chem 120 to Chem 121

CISA 101 replaces COMS 100 (coming in Spring 2014)

ENGL 123 is increased to 4 units

Econ 100 & 101 changed prerequisites to Math 90

Addition of 7 new degrees (not yet approved by the Chancellor’s Office):

  5. PSYC AA-T
  6. SPAN AA-T
  7. THEA AA-T

Revision of degrees:

  • Business Administration AA-T deleted BUSI 105 due to ENGL 120 being a prerequisite on C-ID; changed CISA 110 to CISA 101 (original ADT has not been Chancellor approved yet)
  • English AA-T has minor revisions to course requirements (original ADT has not been Chancellor approved yet)
  • Sociology AA-T added Soci 220 course to program requirements
  • Spanish for Heritage Speakers – revision to courses
  • Spanish for Non-heritage Speakers – revision to the courses
